Having to put these three cases on the shelf today was rough. Knowing that I couldn't afford to buy them all and they would be going to someone else was difficult.

At least I'll get a couple of the Lot B's and 15yr's though.

To top it all off, the 10yr 107's we were supposed to get didn't come in, and I was going to buy a couple of those.

when I was dusty hunting yesterday one of the shop owners actually tried to convince me to buy some red stagg. He said that it was a very good bourbon!

Yeah. I nodded very solemnly and said "yes it is, thank you for your time," and left. In some of the more run down places I've been I get red stagg or american honey thrown at me when someone asks me what I am looking for and I say good bourbon. :cool:

This young woman sat through one of my bourbon classes, where we tasted good stuff, but eventually went for the Red Stag. She didn't get it from me.

I have to admit, though, that I started out my young life as a bourbon and ginger ale or bourbon and seven man. Then, I went to bourbon and soda. Then bourbon and water. Then bourbon rocks. Now, bourbon neat. Soon I will dispense with the glass and just swig it out of the bottle I suppose.

Went to a tasting last week... We had many four roses, noah's mill, a couple of the high wests and others. The host decided to throw a curve on the last one which was sweet lucy. Never had it. All the novices in the room went ohhhh and ahhhhh... I nearly threw up when I tasted it.

I managed to get my fair share of PVR and ORVW this week... But it was hard leaving a few... Can't pay my bills in bourbon.

I tell ya, the flavored whiskey market is exploding. They're selling to a market that's primarily looking for an alchohol delivery mechanism and that grew-up on flavored vodkas. I've lost count but so far I've seen cherry, vanilla, sweet teas, orange, caramel, peach, honey, blackberry, cinnamon, etc.

Hopefully it leaves more of the good stuff for us.

Well, they are all pretty much still there after a busy weekend, so I'm going to hide a couple up in the overstock I think. That way I can get more next paycheck :grin:

I have to be honest though, people talk about the flavored whiskey market exploding, but I just don't see it down here in Florida. Our Red Gag barely moves, and we are a very high volume store. I've never once had someone come in and ask me where it was, or where any flavored whiskey was for that matter.

It's unfortunate, but I know the feeling all too well. We got a very small shipment of 20, 15, and 12. I was able to sell a couple bottles retail, the rest went to the bar. That's where it makes the money for us, so it's proper. And then at least I get to taste them. But it's only one or two patrons that end up consuming the entire lot, so it's a bit of a shame.
