sailor22
John Hansel of Malt Advocate Magazine announced today on his blog that he will no longer accept paid junkets and trips to distilleries for tasting events. Sound like a good thing to me. I will be curious to see how many others follow suit. Sometimes I strongly suspect that the favorite distilleries and products of reviewers are the ones who are the most generous with their perks. This will completely take that out of the equation. With the explosion of pricey small batches, private labels, single barrels, special editions and vintage dated bottlings having a neutral professional taster with known and acknowledged palate preferences will be a great help to the consumer. Huzza and good on ya John!

smokinjoe
Very nice, John. That said, if the distilleries need a new home for junkets, trinkets, and assorted freebies...they know where to find me!

jbutler
Junket? That sounds like that crappy flavorless gelatin powder from the Sixties to me!

That sounds like that crappy flavorless gelatin powder from the Sixties to me! There's something 1960s about "assorted freebies" too. I too would like to subscribe to your newsletter, Joe. Your newsletter sir, I'd like to subscribe to it. Will Jimmy be writing a fashion accessories column for your publication, Joe? If so, that just about makes it a 'can't miss'! craigthom
Junket? That sounds like that crappy flavorless gelatin powder from the Sixties to me!It's rennet, not gelatin. The "pudding" or "custard" it produces thickens because it curdles. Yummy!

His first piece will be a review on flying on Bourbon Supreme Airways.
