William Grant Buys Hudson Whiskey

Chuck breaks the story that Wm Grant & Sons (Glenfiddich, Balvenie, Grant's) is buying the Hudson line of whiskeys from Tuthilltown. This is a really fascinating development, a major drinks player buying up a craft brand (according to Chuck, Tuthilltown will keep ownership of the actual distillery and produce the whiskey for Grant).

Is this the beginning of a trend or an outlier?

William Grant has been on a buying binge lately. They recently bought Tullamore Dew Irish and word has it they want to build a new distillery in Ireland to support the growth of the brand!
