hectic1
One of the best Whiskeys I have ever tasted and probably safe to say my current favorite, Van Winkle Family Reserve 1985 edition, 100 proof unchillfiltered met it's maker last night. Damn it will be missed, but luckily enough I have a few in the bunker.

unclebunk
Farewell to OC101 and my last bottle of AAA 10YO. Really enjoyed both and recently discovered a small stash of the latter, so I may grab another bottle before they disappear again.

sailor22
Tonight I emptied a bottle of Rathskeller 23yr 126 proof Rye --- almost enough to make a grown man cry.
T Comp
Squeezed out the last ounce and a half from a bottle of 1993 Rare Breed. Good to its last 111.4 proof drop even with a little cork particulate parked on the bottom of the tasting glass. Also blew away my 101 (Old No. 8 brand) from the same year. It will be missed. bourbonNOOG
Said goodbye to my Elijah Craig 18 year I picked up from the HH distillery when I did the bourbon trail. It was a tasty beverage.

Vosgar
I finished off the last of a Pappy 15 tonight. It was a bottle I brought to the KBF this year and it came home with about 150ml left in it. I have a few more bottles in my stash but I'm already figuring I may need to look for more. Is it wrong to need more than 3 bottles? I don't think so.Gary

CaptainQ
Recycling day today. Two empties hit the bin: ORVW10/90 and a bottle of Weller 12. Two of my favorite daily pours.
lrochau
Another home Iowa game, a few more empty bottles at Kinnick Stadium - this time Weller 12 and Weller 107. I'm making bourbon fans out of a lot of people that are used to only drinking Jack, Crown or BV. Now if the state of Iowa would help me out and sell something besides the basics to I don't have to drive so far!

T Comp
Tonight saw the final but predetermined complete disappearance of what once was three bottles of $10.99 Rittenhouse BIB's from the shuttered Sam's Wines and Spirits.
nor02lei
I did kill OGD 114 from 81 and WLW 2007 today. Both did grow on my over time and the Granddad was a real hit at the end. The WLW on the other hand struck me as very thin and alcohol hot from the beginning, but pleased me much more when I learned that it did need quit a bit of water despite the relatively low proof. Still I do count it in the WLW B-team together with the 2005.Leif
Vosgar
Just finished the last of a RR 90. I initially wasn't all that thrilled with this one but by the end of the bottle it had become a favorite. Another one of the excellent $25-$30 bottles.Gary

dustyj
Just finished my only taste (200 ml), of Old Taylor 6yr 86p from 1985. Loved it and I wish I had more or maybe a BIB. Thanks for your PM's.
unclebunk
Three down within the last few days: AAA10 YO, AA BIB and Rowan's Creek. I know I'll get kicked in the teeth for saying this, but I was happy to finish off the AAA10 to make space in the cabinet for something new from my bunker. I can't put my finger on why, but as time went on I began to view the AAA10 as thin and frankly a bit dull, particularly after a few sessions of taste comparisons with the BIB. Although I like mixing things up when sharing bourbon with friends, this is one instance when I wish I had stuck to my old "one bourbon at a time" rule because the 10 YO definitely came off second best when pitted against the BIB and I could never shake that impression thereafter. The Rowan's Creek, on the otherhand, impressed me more and more as time went by, having started out as just "okay" when I first cracked the bottle and ending up thoroughly enjoyable when I returned to it several times a few months later. I am in 100% agreement on your thoughts of the AAA 10 vs. AA BIB. The 10 yr is thin to me too, compared to the BIB. I've stated my opinion many times here, that the BIB is the best from the Ancient Age stable. Where many have pined the potential disappearance of the 10 yr (threatened many times over the years), I pine over the same fate potentially happening to the BIB. And, I'm afraid it may be, since I have not seen it in my travels to Kentucky over the last several months.
