I am lucky enough to work for a company that is doing well and to reward their employees they are taking us to Myrtle Beach this year. Seeing as it is socially unacceptable to walk around the pool with a bottle of Evan Williams what is your beer of choice on a hot day in the sun?

I'd say Bell's Oberon or Three Floyd's Gumball Head would do the trick:grin:

I second the Bell's Oberon and add the following:

Sierra Nevada Summerfest

Dale's Pale Ale (especially where glass bottles are prohibited)

I like lighter tasting beers in the summer. Because it's easy to find I would go with Sierra Nevada Summer Lager.

I know it doesn't get a lot of love. It's not trendy...anymore. But, Corona while on the beach gazing at the water is a natural for me.

Thanks for the tips so far. When it comes to beer I have not branched out much. I know I can get the SN here and will take some with me.

30 years ago when actually visiting Cape Cod and that general area (Kennebunkport, or Providence), it was regional beers which at the time were Narragansett, Piels, Schaefer, Ballantine, Gennesee, and countless beers of that style. I still think of those for summer and beach in the U.S., for the memories really, adjunct-laden as I guess they were. And American cigarettes, Kent, Parliament, Philip Morris, Camels. And fried seafood in a cone and all that. The good old days.

I've sworn off lagers for a year, so I endorse Genesee Cream Ale.
