OscarV
I just stumbled across a February 2010 article that stated in the six months that ended October 31, 2009 Brown-Forman saw it's overall sales decrease by 5%.Their Jack Daniel's brand was down only 2%. The say that they are seeing a lot of consumers "trading down", but still they maintain that the premium whiskeys are still the best bet in the long term.OK now, if this is just a short term hiccup in the market for lets say just for 2 years and we know all the distilleries have been ramping up production over at least the last decade then maybe prices will stablize or even better more specialty bottles appear. In another thread Chuck Cowdery said that the next glut might be just around the corner.Good news for us. mrviognier
I for one will try to do my part to, uh, 'absorb' the glut.
boone
Oscar, We've been on big time over time for months now. Particularly the last month doing 12's and Saturday's...Sill can't meet the demand and the bottlinghouse will return to the extra two hours overtime after the vacation "shut-down". OscarV
That article only pointed out Brown-Forman but did also say that the overall market was flat in 2009 after years of growth.Glad to hear your'e busy Bettye Jo, also the mention of drinkers trading-down HH has a lot of brands to accomodate them and I think HH has the best priced premiums and top shelfers. smokinjoe
A glut may benefit us as consumers in the short-term with lower prices, however, as we saw with the last one, there's a lot of potential down-side for us, too.
