FRANKFORT, Ky. -- Growing demand for its bourbon and other whiskeys is leading to an expansion by Heaven Hill Distilleries at its operations in Nelson County.

Heaven Hill plans to add two more warehouses that will store bourbon while aging in barrels.

The expansion will increase the company's storage capacity by nearly 46,000 barrels per year and will give Heaven Hill a total storage capacity of nearly one million barrels.

The state has given preliminary approval for Heaven Hill to receive tax incentives of up to $88,200. Gov. Steve Beshear said Thursday that the expansion is part of the continued growth of a signature Kentucky industry.

Heaven Hill is the country's largest independent, family owned and operated maker of distilled spirits. Its brands include Evan Williams bourbon.
