If you could take a bourbon brand currently on the market and improve on it, what would you do?

Here are my suggestions:

Cabin Still 6yo 86 proof

Old Overholt BIB

Old Grand Dad single barrel BIB

Bernheim Wheat Whiskey 10yo

Would that not be the current Willett you have at 17... just give it one more year :)

Weller 12/107 would be my wish as well...that or figure out how to sell Pappy 15 at half the price! :D

I'd love to see the Michter's line expanded to include some more price-conscious selections. But then again, I'm biased towards anything that says Michter's!

Saz Jr. 10yr barrel proof

Weller 12/107

Those two suggestions would be nice improvements to the BT line. I love Handy, but 4 more years would really make it deserve the Antique name.

If I had my pick of what line to improve I'd fix WTKS and get it back to what it was between the pewter tops and the dark wood tops. I have no clue what those changes would be but I would be thrilled if they could make it happen.

All good suggestions. (except leave my Handy alone:grin: ) A more few things come to mind;

WT 101 a few years older.

ER to 107 proof.

WTKS back to the juice it was in 03.

Fighting Cock a few years older.

Release AA 10yr at a barrel proof unfiltered.

Dickle #12 at 107 proof.

Pappy 30! Ok, not really....

WLW 20 year, would love a 20 yearish wheated bourbon at barrelproof as an annual offering.

Several things spring immediately to mind:

ER 10yo at 101 proof.

WTRR at 101 proof.

WT 101 at 8yo.

EW 90 at 7yo.

EW "1783" at 10yo.

OF "1849" at 8yo.

As for something not done before, how about a VOB at 8-10yo, at least 100 proof? They could call it VVOB.

And though the question was about bourbon, I agree with those who've suggested some ryes aged to 8-10 years (RR, Saz, Handy, etc.)

That's a great idea, Ben.

I'm with you there. I like it a seven years old.

I'd like to see a non chill-filtered seven year age stated baby Saz bottled at 110. I guess what I realy want is a way to scratch that "Handy" itch in an always-on-the-retail-shelf sort of way.

Fighting Cock a few years older.

I concur. I wouldn't want to over do it, but a couple more years in wood would make this one a lot more interesting. As it stands now, I don't see the attraction the current bottling holds for some people.

a 120 proof knob creek... oh wait, I think that's coming.

an older fighting cock would be nice... That stuff has potential.

an older charter 101 might be cool too.

I thought EW 1783 was 10 years old? What sets it apart from the standard EW black label??

It's been NAS for several years now. Yes, there's still a big 10 on the label, but except for dusties, it now reads

Old Number 10 Brand

I'm just guessing here, but I suppose the 1783 has a higher percentage of older bourbon.

I agree. Seems like packaging is getting a bit outrageous for some whiskey.

Pikesville at 4-6yo and 86 and 100 proof would be fun too.

I would also like to see a resurgence in the use of 200 and 375ML bottles. I don't like to make a $20-$80 commitment just to find out I don't like the whiskey. A $5-$20 small 200ML would do just fine for me.

Even though 1783 is nas now. I really can tell no difference. Still one of my favorites. In fact I plan to pick up several bottles when I go through Kentucky next week.
