If you could take a bourbon brand currently on the market and improve on it, what would you do?

Here are my suggestions:

Cabin Still 6yo 86 proof

Old Overholt BIB

Old Grand Dad single barrel BIB

Bernheim Wheat Whiskey 10yo

Those two suggestions would be nice improvements to the BT line. I love Handy, but 4 more years would really make it deserve the Antique name.

If I had my pick of what line to improve I'd fix WTKS and get it back to what it was between the pewter tops and the dark wood tops. I have no clue what those changes would be but I would be thrilled if they could make it happen.

Release AA 10yr at a barrel proof unfiltered.

EW 90 at 7yo.

EW "1783" at 10yo.

OF "1849" at 8yo.

As for something not done before, how about a VOB at 8-10yo, at least 100 proof? They could call it VVOB.

And though the question was about bourbon, I agree with those who've suggested some ryes aged to 8-10 years (RR, Saz, Handy, etc.)

I concur. I wouldn't want to over do it, but a couple more years in wood would make this one a lot more interesting. As it stands now, I don't see the attraction the current bottling holds for some people.

It's been NAS for several years now. Yes, there's still a big 10 on the label, but except for dusties, it now reads

Old Number 10 Brand

I'm just guessing here, but I suppose the 1783 has a higher percentage of older bourbon.

I agree. Seems like packaging is getting a bit outrageous for some whiskey.

Pikesville at 4-6yo and 86 and 100 proof would be fun too.

I would also like to see a resurgence in the use of 200 and 375ML bottles. I don't like to make a $20-$80 commitment just to find out I don't like the whiskey. A $5-$20 small 200ML would do just fine for me.

Even though 1783 is nas now. I really can tell no difference. Still one of my favorites. In fact I plan to pick up several bottles when I go through Kentucky next week.
