urotsukidoji
Has anyone ever heard of this or have an opinion? They are going to start selling this in Ontario in Sept. at the LCBO. From the Toronto Star wine critic: "SPIRITS: Very welcome, in the larger Vintages stores, is the ultra smooth PennyPacker Bourbon (#186742, $27.95 for 700 ml), which is as mellow as Maker’s Mark ($47.15) in sculpting Manhattans, at a bargain price. There’s lots of vanilla and caramel mellowness from the new American oak in which it was carefully aged."
DeanSheen
Terrible name. Hopefully it's a decent alternative for Canadians. That's an insane amount for MM.
sku
It's a Heaven Hill brand for export only. Odd to compare it to Maker's as I believe Pennypacker uses a rye mashbill.
urotsukidoji
Export only - generally not a good sign.... as a Canadian, when I go to the US, I always see all these Canadian whiskey brands in the stores that don't exist for sale within Canada...The price we pay for MM is insane. I usually try and buy across the border when I get a chance, and make it last... ... yes I admit it, I love MM.
sailor22
Given it's light color it looks to be very young juice.
urotsukidoji
Due to the limited # of bourbons we get up here in the great white north, I bought one yesterday for the hell of it. Will report back after I sample this weekend.
cas
I had a glass when I visited a friend in Stockholm about 4 years ago. I believe he picked it up at an airport somewhere in Europe. Pleasant but not extremely interesting as I recall.Craig
BourbonJoe
Terrible name. That name is from Philadelphia, as is Rittenhouse.Joe :usflag:
Megawatt
On a somewhat related note it seems that Maker's Mark has come down in price at the LCBO. The website now lists it at $37.95.
