IronHead
Any one else picked up the latest Weller 12 yet. I picked up a bottle Friday and man, it was very good. I am going to sit down with it tonight and play bourbon geek. Friday I had just left the funeral home due to an old friend's passing when I bought it. So I hit the bottle with a different aim than taking notes....The nose on this stuff is nice, I noticed it as soon as I cracked the bottle. DeanSheen
By what markings does one know that a Weller 12 bottle is a new release? I suppose it's a bit of a redundant question because it's most likely that a bottle of Weller 12 found on a shelf has to be a new bottle. I look forward to your tasting notes. You picked a good bottle to use for painkiller. I was recently in a similar situation and I decided upon VWFRR. That worked pretty good as well. BBQ+Bourbon
Unless the newest bottling is different than past, a printed date stamp exists on the bottle. Most are formatted as xxxxx306:03 or similar for the bottle sealed on the 306th day of 2003. The only Weller 12 in Kansas City I know of is from 2007 and in handles. My shelf is currently empty but I'll have to rectify that problem soon.
IronHead
Date code is 42031022:03pm. I just checked. I was actually working on Dean's assumption that any bottle of Weller 12 was a new release since I haven't seen it anywhere since around this time last year.I picked up a couple liter bottles today for the bunker. I'll put some notes in the tasting section a little later this evening.
SMOWK
The "new" weller 12 is in a new bottle similar to the OWA "new bottle". I just got 6 of them, and now I'm down to five. They are excellent.

cowdery
Who cares? There are no bad bottles of Weller 12, though I suppose some are more wonderful than others.
tommyboy38
I agree with that. Most are very good with a few being very good. The interpretation of the dating code is a bit off though.I don't think the Weller 12 has a code but if it does, the last four digits are the time, two digits in there for the year somewhere and 3 digits for the day of the year. This code...... 42031022:03pmmeans it's bottled on the 203rd day of 2010. ODaniel
I picked up a bottle the day we got them in. Great stuff. Enjoying a pour right now.
nblair
I tell you what, this has to be the best (non dusty) bourbon bargain, hands down. Found some bottles for $22.79 not including tax, need to stock up the best I can while it's still around. I was expecting it to be very similar to Lot B, it was definitely different, but both are delicious.
silverfish
I have yet to try the 12 and thought I'd ask - how does it compare to the OWA, the SR and the BTAC Weller? I got to thinking after reading Christian's "BTAC - Who has it all?" thread that I'm too late in the game to try'n complete the entire collection but maybe I'd concentrate on one and since I have cometo enjoy the OWA and SR, maybe BTAC Weller would be the one to shoot for.Of course I'd wanna get some 12 as well and was wondering how it stacked up to the others. jburlowski
IMO, the 12 is much better than either the SR or OWA.
nblair
I'm terrible at tasting notes, but IMO the Weller 12 is more complex than OWA and SR and has a great mouthfeel, very full bodied. Someone else could probably break it down better than that.
hectic1
All this Weller 12 talk makes me want to go into the bunker and grab one...I told myself that I wouldn't open another bottle until I killed off 10 open bottles...I killed one last night and will have my sights set on another tonight...thinking that the FRSmB is a likely target! I do agree though that IMO the Weller 12 has more caramel and vanilla then the others and is a bit sweeter on entry. My only wish would be that it was bottled in the 100-107 proof range!
DeanSheen
Picked up a bunch at KBF and enjoying a pour right now. It's good and I expect it to be even better in a few days after a bit of air.

unclebunk
A great value pour that drinks as if it cost twice as much.... and a wheater to boot...Nicely put. You'd be hard pressed to find many bourbons of better quality at the same price point.
Vosgar
With all this love going on for Weller 12, Fishnbowljoe may have some competition for the "Weller whore of SB" title
kickert
My local store just got a new batch of Weller 12 in (750, 1L, 1.75). I tried to get a price check on the 1L and it wasn't in the system so the rang up the 750 and 1.75. The 1.75 came in at $59 so the manager offered to sell me the 1L for $29. A bit high I thought (even though it is excellent bourbon). I asked how much the 750 was.... it rang up for $18. Which one do you think I left with? Parkersback
I only ever see OWA and SR here in NYC. Any New Yorkers know where it might be found?
darkluna
I picked up a bottle of Weller12 recently, in the new bottle. I'm really enjoying it, tastes like carmel to me. The date-stamp reads like this: 42041013:01pm -- can anyone interpret? The "0" have little tails, I assume they are "0"s and not "9"s... hard to read
