I bought a couple bottles of the latest OFBB today. Wow.

Two words: Cinnamon Bomb.

Anybody else gotten into theirs yet?

You forgot the annual release of VW products (Pappy 23, 20, 15, Lot B, ORVW 10, VWFRR) and BTAC, etc...too many bottlings coming out at the same time!

I don't know about cinnamon bomb, but I've had it and I like it. There have been a few BBs that have pushed the limit in terms of how much tannic astringency you really want. This one gets that just right. It's also not one-dimensional. It will keep you busy looking for different levels of flavor.

I saw it several weeks ago, but decided to pass on it until I saw some reports here. Maybe I'll pick one up tomorrow.

I sure hope the cinnamon bomb accusation is false. For some reason I find that flavor cloying. Gives me goldschlager flashbacks. They say after like seven shots of that stuff you're considered legally insane (in some states), and cinnamon in my bourbon makes me feel like it's true.

Well, heck, got down there and they'd sold all six bottles (only got in the one case).

However they'd finally got in some VOB BiB so I bought one of those.

I didn't get the cinnamon bomb in my first taste, I got fruit up front with typical OF flavors following it. I enjoyed and am looking forward to cracking one open and getting more into it.

Had some of this at the KBF. I thought it was very good, much better than the 09. It was everywhere in Bardstown.

Definitely lots of spice in this one... I detect cinnamon along with cloves. IMO, one of the better OFBB releases.

My bottle showed up:

Color: Copper, maybe a shade lighter than a new penny.

Nose: Lots of oak and cloves.

Taste: Sweet and fruity up front. Cinnamon and spice in the back. Is that cedar?

Finish: Short, although a woodsy cinnamon lingers for a little while.

Spicy, although I didn't quite get the cinnamon bomb that was mentioned before. Kind of one-dimensional with none of the vanilla, maple, or sweet oak flavors that I really like. Upon first taste, it kept me looking for the sweet fruitiness that was initially on the tip of my tongue, but it wasn't there.

Pretty disappointing, although not as much so as the 2009 release. I don't think I'll be purchasing another of this series, or any series in the coming years. To date, the best OFBB product I have tasted is the 2008, and the best OF product I've tasted is a 1990s BIB.

Old Forester falls into the same category as Four Roses for me. I really haven't had anything that made me say "mmmmmmmmmmm, i need a few more cases of that".

Dave G, if you're reading this, I did not get a chance to buy any of your FR barrel from four corners. Are there any left?

John Hansell gave it a good review and a score of 91. I agree with John. Not the best BB I've ever had but far from the worst.

I finally got one and Heather and I both agree it's good.

Color: 95 proof 12yo bourbon

Nose: Bit-o-honey candy in a wooden box.

Taste: Not as good as the nose.

Finish: Good for proof but lingers as cinnamon.

Overall completely enjoyable yet not very contemplateable like the old BIB.

It's a pretty easy decision for me to get the Signature, considering the price differential, over this- which is meant to be a great compliment to signature as I'd say 90 was a fair rating for this.

So $16 for an 85, $40 for a 90, fair so far IMHO, but the 95's these days are barely staying below $100. Ten points is too rich for my blood.

 Old Forester Signature

Local ABC store had 4 bottles of the 2010. It was priced at $36.99, is it worth it even at that price? Thought it was suppose to be around $50?

I say leave it. I picked mine up for under $40 and was unimpressed. I still have half the bottle and I've visited it a few times. Each time, I like it less and less.
