I wanted to start a thread for the much anticipated 2010 BTAC. Anybody have any inkling of when it might be released?

Normally I would have heard something by now and I haven't, so I don't know.

It seems to me that someone posted that they saw some being bottled on the BT webcam recently.

Last year it came out the earliest that I recall, late Sept in KY, the other 48 states in Oct and Nov in MI but that is another story.

It's not to soon to start dropping the BTAC bomb on your favorite retailers.

I've already started. So far, it isn't working.

I'm probably just going to get a couple bottles of the WLW. Maybe one GTS and one ER 17 depending. Joe

Sounds like my plan, I'm only going to buy 2 Larue and 1 Stagg.

No one liking the T. Handy Rye? I only had the initial offering but I enjoyed it. The Stagg and the WLW always fly off the shelf first.

Not sure how much I'll pick up, depends on what I can find.

WLW and Stagg first. Maybe some Handy but probably not till later.

I spoke with one of the managers of one of the Liquor Barns yesterday. He said that he hasn't heard anything about the 2010 BTAC but he expects it in late September...so basically nothing we don't already know.

Not around here. Apparently I'm not the only one in this part of Oregon who can't bring himself to pay $77 for a six year old whiskey.

Dean,

Where do you find it? I've only seen Stagg on the Ohio control list, and that isn't even available. I talked to a distributor who tried to dig some up at the beginning of the year, but he came back empty handed.

Dan

We have to get it out of state.

On a gun board one of my "cyber buddies" mentioned in a thread that his brother's best friend owned in liquor store in my current town of residence. I asked if he could see if the guy could get me a bottle of GTS and added links to a couple reviews.

A couple days later in a PM he said the store owner could get 4 bottles, he was keeping 1 but the other 3 were mine, there were only 18 bottles allocated for the state of Missouri. I feel like a hog, but will probably have the wife pick up all 3 when they come in.

The release of the 2010 BTAC is still at least a few weeks away. BT was bottling the ER17 when we were there last week. GTS, TH Handy, and Saz 18 were already bottled. The only thing left is the WLW, and those barrels hadn't even been picked as of last week. Joe

Looking forward to the BTAC's. Not looking forward to the inevitable price jumps from last year. Some of these premium bottles are simply getting too expensive for me, much as I'd like to have 'em. With pennies getting harder to come by, I may have to settle for only two or three of the BTAC's this time around and start working on my bunker consumption. Can't wait to see what others have to say about their tastings of these so that I can narrow down my selections.

My plan is to get the WLW this year and leave it at that unless one of the others gets particularly rave reviews.

P.S. Congrats on your 1,000th post unclebunk!

Thanks, Josh. I'm leaning towards WLW as well, though I'm anxious to see what others have to say about GTS. I'd also like to get a Saz 18 or a Handy Saz but I haven't found an easy bank to knock off yet.

Agree with you on all accounts. Similar to you and Josh, I am looking to pickup one bourbon and one rye with the price jump from the last couple of years. I enjoy them like everyone else here, but the cost is becoming prohibitive for 5 bottles at that price. The bottles did last longer on the shelves than years past, but that doesn't make it any better on the wallet. Just spreads the pain over a couple of months.

Given the most likely increase in price I suspect plenty will be on the shelves as some folks pass and others buy far less. If anything goes quickly it will be the WLW.

We know the State min is $71 a bottle. Will see how many retailers stick to that price or jack it up. Plan to pick up 2 bottles each of Stagg, WLW and Handy. One to drink now and one to bunker. Will pass of teh ER17 and Saz.

Most will put a premium on the BTAC. Even my favorite AA store puts a premium on it but will sell it to be at the state price or at least has done that in the past.

Around here in Livonia, Plymouth, and Farmington Hills all the retailers will put on a premium ranging from 3% to about 30%.
