Yup...saw them around today for that price...at $80 a bottle I'll be passing this year. It's insane what has happened with bourbon prices over the last couple years...since 07 the price on BTAC's have gone from $55 to $80 for the same juice...that's over a 30% increase...:(

I guess I'll be bunkering Four Roses Barrel Strength bottles for $55 from now on. ;)

I'm disappointed in you , Bob. Here I thought you had bottomless pockets.

As for me, it's all academic. There will be no BTAC for Oregon this year.

I don't know how it works in other control states, but in Oregon, the producer/distributor doesn't get reimbursed unitl the product is sold. There are at least nine unsold 2009 BTACs in the state (eight Handys and one ER17) and BT will not be reimbursed for those until they're sold, which is probably why we're not getting any 2010s.

From the distributor, they are still under $50.

Anyone within the area of Belleville MI that would like a bottle of 2009 Thomas H Handy at 2009 price of $64.99 plus sales tax, PM me and I'll tell you what store it is at.

I wish that was the case Scott...Binny's has gotten so big that they don't have any competition for the "limited release" stuff that they can gouge people on them...I'll be willing to be that people will still pay $80 for it but I won't...at $55 it was a no brainer on the buy list...at $80 I move it to the sell list!

Let's hope this becomes a trend with the Handy, well it already is a trend obviously, so let's hope BT pulls their head out and either lowers the price, lowers production or something. Said it plenty of times, I love Handy, but not at $60+, at $40 yes and I'd buy and drink it often, but at 50% more than that, no.

Late to the party, but thought i'd ask a question now that people have bought and sampled this years release.

I stumbled upon a store today that had two Handy for $70 each and a WLW for $90. I'm generally pretty cheap but was tempted to pick up one based on all the love for BTAC I see. Is the Handy the better "bargain" at 70, or is WLW that much better that it's worth 90?

Your comparing apples to oranges. The Handy is a 6 year old barrel proof rye while the WLW is a 12 year old barrel proof wheat bourbon. I have not sampled this years release, but I did buy both as I like examples of each expression. If I had to pick just one I would choose the WLW even at the higher price.

I second. But I must add that the Handy is some tasty juice!

Thanks. I knew that they were different ends of the spectrum but thought I'd get opinions of the two. It seemed that generally people rave about WLW, but I seem to recall catching someone say they were disappointed in this years offering.

Maybe I'll just bite the bullet and get both, then stash them until a time when I can truly appreciate both.

thanks again.

? There was 2010 BTAC product shipped to Oregon...and was sold very quickly. I managed to pick up a couple of bottles of Stagg

I didn't buy any of the BTAC this year so my comments about 2010 are second hand. What I've heard is that this years WLW is hot and doesn't handle water that well (i.e. cut to reduce the heat). I had last years and it was also hot on the palate. I think the WLW have diminished somewhat over the last number of years. My favorite of those tasted (05-09) is the 2006. It was 15 years old at 129 proof and was an easy drinker even at barrel strength.

Yes there was, as it turned out. We got small amounts of everything except Saz 18. The owner of my fav liquor store asked me if I wanted any, but $81.95 is too high, so I passed.

Haggle with him... I rarely pay full price anymore. I usually get 10% off just for asking

Can anybody tell me how old the 2002 Stagg was?

Joe :usflag:

According to the data sheet above "17 years and 7 months old at bottling"

Also playing with the figures in the data sheet of barrel volume, loss, # of barrels there was ~ 20,000 750ml bottles produced

The data sheet above is for the 2010 GTS...he was asking for the 2002 GTS which was the first year that GTS was produced IRRC.

I'm pretty sure it was 15.

I have the ordinal fact sheet from the 2002 release. Its not much facts on it as it’s only the front page on it, but it do state that it is 15 years old. I do think the back page came 2003 or 2004.

Once again, someone with 10 posts demands that we rearrange the furniture. In another era, they called that 'brass.'
