ODaniel
Haha, $69.99? They were $74.99 at Liquor Barn here in KY. I guess they jack the price up because they can.I tried the Stagg and Weller last night. Tried Weller neat first. Incredibly smooth and tasty - no real mouth heat or any burn. After a few seconds I start to feel the warmth going down my whole torso. Not a burn, just a warmth. The taste was incredible though. I got a lot of sweet caramel notes, and some others I don't remember. I tried the Stagg neat afterward - noticeably hotter and a little mouth burn but not bad, although it took away from the flavor a little. I then put a little bit of water in it and it was very nice, although I still prefer the Weller. Awesome stuff.
Josh
Have any of you folks with supierior bunkers done any side-by-side tastings with BTACs of years past? How do the 2010s measure up?
IronHead
You do realize you gave your money to the same people? :cool:Oh absolutely. The "F'em" comment was directed at the BTAC as a concept...not BT. They still make some of my favorite whiskey.
doubleblank
I don't have the 2010's yet, so I haven't (and won't in the near future) do any side-by-sides. But BT's intent is to have a target profile for each of the BTAC's. Sure, there will be differences but they will likely be very similar to last year's offerings. John Hansell's notes point to this too as he sees a lot of similarities to last year's release.Old Forrester has taken the opposite tact as they intentionally offer something different with each release of the Birthday Bourbon.Randy

Doggerlander
I just picked up the 2010 Sazerac 18 for $66. No Stagg or Larue yet, but they are coming. Those are the only BTACs we get in Ohio. The Stagg is $66 and the Larue is $71 in Cleveland. It's a little less if I go out of the county, so I need to find a store that will order for me out there. This is a control state, so as long as it's in the state warehouse, I imagine any Ohio store can get it. bourbonNOOG
The parents went to Nashville over the weekend. I knew they would stop in a liquor store while they were there because my mom has to have her wine readily available when she's traveling. I made sure to plant the seed of the BTAC in her ear before she left. I wrote her a length text message so she would have it hand to show the clerk. It paid off. She called and said she snagged a 2010 Stagg, Weller and Eagle Rare. They'll be home this afternoon and I will be swinging by to pick up my precious cargo on the way home from work. Finally, I guess to see what all the "fuss" is about. SMOWK
Looks like bottles have finally reached the East Coast. A case each of Stagg, Weller, and Handy should have my name on it within a few days. Coming in this year at $55.

SMOWK
A case each? When do you want us over? You guys are welcome anytime. I must mention that was only one store that I didn't have much faith in. I'm still awaiting 2 more cases of each from my "local guy".

bourbonNOOG
Picked up my bottle of Stagg from the parents house on the way home last night. For some reason my mother seems to want to hold on to the Weller and Eagle Rare 17 for christmas and birthday gifts (my birthday is the day before christmas). Originally I was supposed to pay her for them but I guess she was so taken aback from my excitement when she handed me the bottle of Stagg that she decided she was going to keep the others from me. Merry Christmas and happy birthday to me I guess... what are you going to do.

4thecrue
I've done that before! My two sources havent called or emailed yet so I feel the same way. To make it worse 1 of them will not be giving a case discount this year. So I'm crossing my fingers the other comes through. They aren't in my hands just yet. SMOWK
I finally got around to opening a 2010 Stagg with my father last night. I haven't compared it other years, but I think it could be one of the better Stagg's I've tasted. It is a lot less dry than previous years, and is a bit sweeter. Hooray!
