I haven't been to the Buy-Lo in Dallas for awhile, but I went today to see if they still had some Pappy 20 on the shelves. I turned into the parking lot to see that the store is closed and the location is for lease.

Dammit, another little guy bites the dust.:smiley_acbt:

Major bummer. I had a similar experience not long ago and sat in my car looking at the storefront in disbelief for what seemed an eternity.

We have threads for what did we buy. We have them for what bottles we finished and for what beer, scotch etc we bought or passed up.

It may be time for a " What local liquor store closed" thread.

We mourn your losses Gents.

One of my accounts closed up last week.

It seems that they were buying spirits and cigarettes from under cover agents the last 3 months.

And they were by passing the electric meter and getting free electricity.

On top of that they were on probation for previous offences.

Nothing but Beam and assorted bottom shelf items there so no big lose.

There's a big chain here called Spec's, and they are opening up stores everywhere and putting some of the small shops out of business.

In my area (Southern Miami-Dade County, Florida) I have only seen one liquor store close and that was a year or so back. It seems to be the little guys are doing a good job competing against the big guys here. In this case the big guys are Costco, BJs and a few larger shops like Mega Discount Liquors. I am sure the economy has impacted the retailers here but not to the point of shutting them down.
