bourbonNOOG
Came across a bottle of this but couldn't pull the trigger. Thought I would throw it out here, since I am new. It is worth $40 or should I move along?
barturtle
It's been a little while since I bought a bottle, but it seems like it should be under $30...but if prices are inflated where you live that may just be the going price. Good stuff.
cigarnv
Runs under 25 in the DC area... good juice at that price point

unclebunk
It's a pity that the OGD114 is so pricey where you live. I really enjoy it, but then I only pay $25 (or less when on sale) for it. I'd skip it at $40 because there are simply too many other quality products at that price point that I prefer. Perhaps you should keep looking to see if you can beat that price. If you find it at $30, I'd buy it and check it out.
Halifax
I always pick up a couple of bottles of OGD 114 when I'm in Va. I've never paid more than $24.95 for it.

callmeox
NOOG = Chatanooga, TNI agree with the others that it is a great 20 dollar bottle, but not a great at 40.
bourbonNOOG
Thanks to all the quick responses. It looked quite tasty but at that price point it sounds like it's a little steep (overall consensus). Nice work on deciphering my username, callmeox. I appreciate all the help. I will probably hold off and grab this elsewhere while traveling at a cheaper price. I would like to taste it but not at a $15 premium.
nor02lei
That’s about what I pay for it here in Europe and I think it is very cheap compared to most other brands. However I would think it’s to high if I would bay it in USA for that price.Leif

It is worth $40 or should I move along?Well, I think the last bottle I bought was $28, but that was several years ago. It is also one of my top favorite bourbons, definitely better than many other $40 bourbons I have had. I would recommend trying it, at least once.Tim
chilidawg7
In Florida it can readily be found for around $25 and it is one of my favorites, especially at that price.
StraightBoston
Don't pay more than $30 ($25 is better) but definitely buy some.
55bill
We can get OGD114 in Tucson for $19.99 for the 750 ml. At that price, it's one of our regulars. Just great. Gotta watch that 114 proof, though!

Gotta watch that 114 proof, though!Wow. That's a great deal! You're right about the 114 proof too. OGD being such an easy, flavorful sipper makes it one of those whiskeys that can really creep up on you.
Josh
I think it's worth $40, but at that price I'd rather buy 4R Single Barrel which is $40 but tastes like its $50. Ugh, too much math.
ACDetroit
While in Lexington this past weekend I found it for $19.99. I would pass at $40 unless it had the old faux tax strip or a tax stamped bottle from ND.Just my 2 cents.Tony
MTBottle
PLCB stores had this on closeout in December '07 for $17.49 instead of the regular price of $19.99. I love it so much I bunkered 11 bottles and would have bought more if I could have found more. I'm down to my last unopened bottle and it'll break my heart to open it. Now it has to be special ordered by the case of 6 at $29.09 each. Isn't it great to have goverment controlled liquor stores?!?! I like it enough that I might pay $29 but I agree with others that at $40 I would buy something else.Mark
Vosgar
OGD is definitely one to buy, but I would keep looking for a better price. This June I bought a 750 for $19.79 at our Woodman's grocery store. Normally it seems to go for around $25.Gary
sailor22
it had the old faux tax strip or a tax stamped bottle from ND.That's the one you want. After comparing the two I lost all enthusiasm for the current offering.
BBQ+Bourbon
It's just over $20 here, which is the going price. It's worth more than $20 for sure. Sounds like you need to find a better store, then buy a bottle. It's great whiskey!
p_elliott
I paid $29 for mine and that store is expensive on everything so $40 is out of the question.
smokinjoe
That price is pretty bad. Like others have said, it should be low/mid $20's. The bourbon is exceptional, though. One of the 9, in my Top 5. I'm also one of the very few, if not only one, who actually prefers the current release to the ND OGD 114. Call me crazy!! Anyway you look at it Noog, you must get a bottle...but, at the right price. Good Luck! I'll PM you with a not too far location where you can get the 114 for much less.
