StraightBoston
Spun is the master of all things WT (including which #8's are really 8 year olds.)I've purchased a couple of the duty-free WT8 and WT12 expressions in Japan, and while they're better than 101 NAS, I wouldn't hold them up over a current Rare Breed, IMHO. As often seems the case, the US WT12s from older production are simply better juice.
nor02lei
WT 12 anytime. The 12-year export that has been available here for many years at a reasonable price seems to be more or less sold out. I don’t know if this is temporary and bottling will come back, or if it is for good. I can probably still find/get it if I put some guts in to it, but not for long as it seem.Leif
spun_cookie
There before me lied a 750 ML bottle and a 1.75 liter bottle of WT 101 8 year both marked 1979 on the bottom. Pictures of the handle please I would like to see what it looks like. I have found a couple different versions now from that era. Is there any difference between Old No. 8 and current WT101. A local store has several gift boxes with glasses and Old No. 8 that they have had for awhile for about $20 a box. The bottles have suffered a little evaporation though. Need to look at the year on the bottle. There will be a date stamp. 1994 or earlier (I have 12/16/94) is a buy. The closer to 12/21/92, first of the Old #8 that I have seen to date (I found a split case in HI of round bottle 375s that were 8yr, 8yr, 8yr, Old #8, etc for the rest of the case), the better they are. The 1992-1993 juice is liquid heaven. After 1994 it s a crap shoot. 1997-98 was worse than the current label stuff that came out (had a handle of 97 and it ended up being a mixer and giveaway juice). I figure they wanted to ween us off the old label much like OWA did when they changed labels... I have had some 95-96 juice and it is a little better than the normal current 101, but not by much and when you get a good run of the current juice, it is better than those years. Snap a shot of the box and let us know the years on the bottles and away you go....
