There was a panhandler outside the post office this evening. He was asking for loose change.

Normally, I ignore these folks, but he said, "I promise I'm not going to spend the money on booze."

I told him that's what *I* was planning to spend it on, and walked away. Am I a complete jerk now?

Maybe that's what I'll do for Christmas. Go downtown with a bag full of 200 ml bottles of Jim Beam and pass them out to the pandhandlers. How long do you think it would take for me to get mugged? Or arrested?

Mugged, I can see, but is it illegal to give someone you don't know free liquor?

My buddy was at a business party in San Francisco... it was open bar with bottle service. They acted ridiculous, as one does with free bottle service, and in a drunken stupor walked out of the bar with 2-3 bottles each.

They decided to go wander around town and drink... every bum they tried to give a bottle to refused it and acted really strange.

If it's free it's either suspect or not free. Many years ago, some buds made gourmet sandwiches for thanksgiving and took them to where a pile of homeless hung out. They went back home with almost all the sandwiches.
