silverfish
New from JD: "Angelo Lucchesi began working for the Jack Daniel Distillery back in 1953 as the very first salesman. Angelo became a key Ambassador for Jack Daniel's and over the years, he made telling the Jack Daniel's story his passion and pleasure. Traveling the world to share the story, he was integral in helping build Jack Daniel's and secure the place it enjoys today. In honor of Angelo's dedication and ambassadorship, the Jack Daniel Distillery is proud to release this special bottling of Jack Daniel's No. 7 to celebrate Angelo's 90th birthday on December 24, 2010. A portion of the proceeds from this limited edition bottle will go directly to one of Angelo's favorite charities as a token of Jack Daniel's appreciation for this friendship and the many friends he's made for Jack. harshest
Looks like this is 90 proof, so this is the same juice that is in the other commemorative bottles such as the gold metal series?
Gillman
Looks like JD is finding a number ways to reintroduce the famous 90 proof version.Gary
silverfish
Looks like this is 90 proof, so this is the same juice that is in the other commemorative bottles such as the gold metal series? The information I have is that yes, it is 90 proof. With the recent American Forests and now this bottle, Gary may be on to something re: bringing back the beloved 90 proof. Sometimes these higher proofbottles are priced lower than standard 80 proof JD. Go figure...
ThomasH
90 proof JD is miles better than the 80 proof. One retailer is selling these online right now for 24.99 and another called American Forests for 21.99. There will definitely not be any 80 proof JD in my house!Thomas

cowdery
All of the commemoratives are the standard black label whiskey but at 90 proof instead of 80.
Gillman
When the 80 proof was released domestically, we were told the color was made a little darker (naturally through the mingling process but entailing presumably addition of some older whiskey) to ensure the color wasn't too light, i.e., by comparison to the 86 proof. Is the new 90 proof therefore darker than the original 90 proof? Or is it the same colour, in which case the mingling would not be done exactly as the 80 proof?Gary
