Is there an iPhone app for bourbons? I'd love to be able to click on a name and call up all the information on the bourbon, then click on the distillery and call up all the other bottles, etc. etc., for hours at a time. Actually it would be a great tool for a newb like me while I'm standing in the aisle at the liquor store.

Thanks

There are several bourbon apps and many more whiskey apps that do some of, or all of what you are asking. I don't personally have any like that installed, but do have some apps on my Ipod Touch that give me cocktail databases, Kentucky and Bardstown tourist information (which includes bourbon and distillery inforamation), a podcast on whiskey (whiskeycast) and even radio listening from Kentucky.

If you do App searches for 'bourbon', 'Kentucky' or 'Whiskey' in Itunes or on your Iphone/Touch/Ipad they should show up, otherwise let me know and I can post specific details here.

Bourbon Enthusiast has an app of the reviews database there. I haven't posted about it because I didn't know if it'd be appropriate to post about a BE app here. I paid $.99 for it and have used it multiple times.

It's up to $1.50 now. Is it worth the cost?

To be honest if you were to bookmark the reviews section on your browser, it'd be the same thing. The only differences are that you won't need an internet connection for the app, and it's much easier to scroll and find what you need. For 6 quarters you could do a lot worse. I think it can be useful.

Thanks. I'm on the fence about getting a Touch and this may tip me over. I am starting to need a lot more data at my fingertips than I can remember, or easily write down and carry around.

Just downloaded the "Dip Your Own" app from the folks at Maker's. Kinda cute, kinda clever, definitely harmless. At least it's free. Maker's Mark aficionados will particularly enjoy it.

First trip there we arrived for the last tour of the day without realizing the time change which was an hour difference. We were 10 minutes late. A nice person at the welcome center made a call and the three of us were escorted on a short tour.

The gracious ladys on the line dipping the pint bottles offered to let my son dip one. The three year old on my shoulder leaned over, sniffed, and demurred. Being more adventuresome I would have done so at his age but he is smarter than me. Great tour, good folks.
