Sounds like you have been getting some good high priced bottles for very reasonable prices.

I haven't seen prices like that for years.

any tips on ones to pick up. headed up there today. funny thing is, you seem to be able to talk them down. shelf price on the pappy's was $180. a liquor store in the district, 5 blocks away, had it for $240.

Geebus! Sure is a lot of vodka on that list. I knew there were a lot out there, but I didn't realize just how many. Especially compared to the list of bourbons. I like the bourbon categories - "bottled in bond" (KC isn't labeled as BIB, is it?), "straight bourbon whiskey," "sour mash whiskey."

The prices look pretty good as far as what I can find in my area. Pappy 23 is out of my price range, so I'm not sure what you're after, but in general I'd recommend starting at the bottom pricewise and working up. Try them all eventually if you can, but for starters from this list I'd recommend Old Fitzgerald, if it's BIB/100 proof, Old Forrester (100 proof if there's a choice), Wild Turkey, then up to Beam Black, Eagle Rare, Wild Turkey Rare Breed and Knob Creek.

Just my 2¢.

Good luck and let us know what you try and what you think of it.

Mike

Looking at that list, if I were in your position and were looking to expand my tastes I'd hope that somebody would tell me to go and pick up the following 3 bottles:

Wild Turkey Rare Breed for $27.99

Booker's for $40.99

Evan Williams SB for $17.99

That would be money well spent.

edit - and if those prices aren't going to last, I'd probably pick up several of all three of those

I agree 100%! Great bourbon prices, and I just picked up a 750 ml bottle of Johnnie Walker Black for $35, the above link has it for $24. Oh well, I would have spent more than $11 on gas to get to Montgomery county!

Cheers,

Rob

thanks for the advice guys. just read the sticky on how to drink bourbon and it seems i'm doing it backwards. went out and bought all the expensive stuff. now i have to go out and buy the cheap stuff and start over. I have a bad habit of moving straight to the expensive stuff in my hobbies. It's a curse .

i know i saw a thread with all the abbreviations on it, but for the life of me i can't find it again. So i have no idea what you guys are talking about half the time. can someone link me?
