M14Shooter
I was lucky to come across a 1969 Cabin Still decanter.I could not wait to try the treasure inside.Color: Dark Gold /Amber Clear not cloudyNose:Carmel Sauce,Toffee,Sweet Pecan,Spun Sugar ,Sweet Dried Fruit with the Barrel Char and Oak elements in the background.Taste:Great Balance and medium weight,Lot of Carmel and peanut oil in the Mid-Palate,followed by flavors of honey, hint of candied fruit and toffee. The finish was somewhat sweet and thick and went on for about 30 seconds. There was a a fair amount of oak in the finish but not too much for my palate.Overall I like this old timer a lot.It held up the test of time and delivered the goods.I always love tasting a bit of Bourbon from the past.I plan on sharing this with some Bourbon friends so they can get a chance to see what an older S/W Bourbon tastes like.Regards, Mike
squire
Just as I remember it Mike, it's funny to think in 69 it was considered a lower shelf product.
ratcheer
Ah, those were the days. I had Cabin Still a few times, but don't remember much about it. My SW bourbon of choice in '69 was Rebel Yell. Then, late in the year, I was introduced to Old Fitzgerald.Yes, those were the days.Tim
squire
Tim did your Rebel Yell have the six year age statement?

squire
Same here, I distinctly recall seeing the six year age statement but don't remember if it was on the label or a sticker on the neck.
