Heading into town soon for the BCS bowl and would like to snag a good bottle of bourbon while there. An internet search brought me to Tops Liquor, T's Liquor, Star Liquor and BevMo as likely candidates.

The BevMo website has a list of what's in stock and from what I can tell, the selection is a bit pedestrian. The others don't seem to have that kind of detail available online.

Anyone with any experiences with any of these care to supply a brief run-down? If you could only hit one, which would it be?

Thanks in advance for any information.

If you are still in town for sure head to TOPS in Tempe. Good place overall.

Good selection.

Let us know what you end up with.

Respectfully,

Ron

Back from the run to TOPS. Lots of really good options...several BTACs, I believe all four PHC releases, a Black Maple Hill that I hadn't seen before, etc.

However, I didn't end up with any of those. Prices overall seemed a bit higher than I am used to in Michigan and with the fiancee there, my splurge-ability was pretty well squelched. Ended up with a Ritt BIB for $22, and a mixed 12-er of Booneville River beer.

Also got talked into a bottle of Feckin Irish Whiskey, on closeout for $10. Never had any Irish and the Feckin looks really pale but for a tenner, I can give it a shot.

I haven't had a chance to try the Ritt yet and, even though it's not the most prestigious bottle I could have left with, I am looking forward to cracking into this in a little bit...

Thanks again!

Glad you had some decent luck.

I am interested in the Black Maple Hill....

I will have to stop by & check it out. Do you remember the price?

Respectfully,

Ron

Don't hold me to this, as there were a lot of bottles and prices flyimng around in a quick succession but I believe it was in the $45 range. It's in a locked cabinet across the aisle from the front counter.

Tops is the place that almost reminds you of a used bookstore (or an antique store?) with the way the shelves and counters are set up, with a couple of locked cases here and there?

I wish I had seen this thread earlier!!!

In heading into Phoenix today for the game. What BTAC did they have? Any Stagg? Remember the prices on those?

I think they were in the high 80s. No Stagg that I saw, but I didnt see everything in the case.

Guy at Bevmo told me to go to total wine in Tempe, had a case of the 12,15, 20 and 23. Bought 3 bottles of the 15. Might get a bottle of the 20.

64.99 for 15, 109.99 for 20 and 249 for 23.
