I am trying to find a producer that can make some shine for me on a wholesale level. I am a bit new to this although I have been in the wine business for many years as a producer. Is there anyone out there that can help me out? Looking to start with two products and to add as neededn

first "shine" is not something that can be done legally. If you need a legally distilled spirit, then you will need to contact one of the legal distilleries.

second, if you are here for commercial purposes, you need to have cleared that with management, as per the user agreement.

The word "moonshine" has historically referred to illegally-distilled spirits, like Timothy said. What you want is generally called white dog or new make or high wines.

Some persons selling unaged spirits have taken to calling their stuff "moonshine" to give it a sense of danger or make it sound down-homey or something else, but if it's produced legally, by definition, it is not moonshine.

And you really do need to talk to the management if you are here for commercial purposes.

You guys are making assumptions. We don't actually know what this person wants. The fact remains, as both Josh and Barturtle said, that the term "moonshine" does not refer to any particular type of distilled spirit. The term merely means any distilled spirit produced illegally. Many producers of so-called "legal moonshine" sell corn whiskey, others sell vodka. What most actual moonshiners make is sugar jack, spirit distilled from a mash of table sugar and water.

I suspect the closest thing on the market to that is this stuff. Being a vodka, it's distilled at 95% ABV, which I'm guessing is higher than the distillation ABV for sugar jack, most of which is probably distilled in simple stills (i.e., pot stills) which can't reach 95% ABV.

But maybe they'll make some for you at lower distillation proof. I know they could use the money. Offer them some.

This person wants to buy distilled spirits wholesale, which implies that he or she intends to resell it, especially considering that he or she has experience as a wine producer.

I thought the reaction was a little harsh, but only a little. I don't think this is the place to get the answer to the question, though.

I'd say check out LDI. Many threads about them on the board.

I would suggest posting http://adiforums.com/ American Distillers Forum. Lot's of folks there own licensed & legal stills.

Um. Wow. I am so happy you posted this link. A whole new can of worms.
