Josh
Why does almost everything in Indiana have to be "Heartland" something or sound all homey and generic? At least the Wm. H. Harrison bourbon was named after someone interesting. How about a bourbon named after a figure from Indiana history who was even more badass? Little Turtle Single Barrel, Tecumseh Reserve, Dillinger Barrel Proof or maybe Geo. Rogers Clark Rye. "Heartland", gimmie a break!:smiley_acbt:
Whiskey Willie
Geez, "lighten up, Francis" . . . It's only a name, and not everything in Indiana is named Heartland-this or Heartland that...
craigthom
"Founded in 2008, Heartland Distillers is Indiana's first new distillery since Prohibition."It's hard to tell from the text, but it appears that the Starlight distillery predates this one. They don't make whiskey, and they've only been selling for a year or two, but it appears that the still has been operating since 2001.

CorvallisCracker
Why does almost everything in Indiana have to be "Heartland" something or sound all homey and generic? To me, the "heartland" will always be the midwest, that place of rolling farmland, cornfields and dairy farms. Thus, when in the early 1990s I was visiting some south-of-Lake-Okeechobee school districts (preping them for connection to the Florida's statewide educational computer network), I felt it somewhat incongruous that these counties had formed what they called the Heartland Consortium. The area is mostly ranch country, and the breed of choice is the Brahma (dictated by the hot, humid climate). As we drove around the countryside, from county seat to county seat, every time I saw a herd of these I'd shout "Look! Guernseys!" or "Look! Holsteins!"The other people in the car found this entertaining until about the third or fourth time. I should have stopped then. How about a bourbon named after a figure from Indiana history who was even more badass? Little Turtle Single Barrel, Tecumseh Reserve, Dillinger Barrel Proof or maybe Geo. cowdery
I nominate Larry Bird. A Larry Bird Bourbon would fit right in with Wild Turkey, Eagle Rare, and Fighting Cock.
