Because I'm so damn hip, and not at all crotchety, I was watching the new Jennifer Lopez video today and there, in a lovely product placement, is a bottle of Crown Royal. Interesting, because although Diageo paid for the placement, artists are careful about making sure products they endorse suit their image. Is Crown popular in dance clubs? Is this good for whiskey? Or a sign of the Apocalypse?

It's a sign of the Apocalypse. J-Lo has sold out. I for one, know she only drinks bonded whiskey in real life.

No link? Whisky seems like it's replacing Cognac as the hippest spirit in pop music. First Ke$ha brushes her teeth with a bottle of Jack and now this! Hmm, I wonder if Brown-Froman paid for that one too. Maybe they are seeing a new market in toothpaste.

No link?

Video here.

CR pops up at around 2:24 mark and is poured shortly thereafter.

I didn't see it again after 3:00 so you can quit watching at that

point if you want.

Crown Royal is also big in the C&W scene.

Lots of the Nashville Factory "Artists?" refer to it.

Crown Royal has long been the favourite drink of metal band Pantera, but I don't think it features in any of their official videos.

Despite the popularity of mixed drinks in clubs, bottled beer is the only one you can actually take on the dance floor, as the rest all spill too damn easily.

Crown would be what I'd consider a popular club drink. The ornate bottle, the velvet bag.

I think it is also a favorite drink of the group Skid Row but I haven't seen it in their videos either!
