sku
An Oregon bottler has two LDI Bourbons: http://bigbottomwhiskey.com/ourstory.htmlIt's nice to see someone come out and just say they are an independent bottler.

cowdery
"honesty does not make for a superior product."You call that a point?Think of it this way. The distillery tells you their product is under-aged and over-priced LDI swill, you buy it anyway, you're disappointed, and somehow that's my fault? You're back on 'ignore.' CorvallisCracker
Aren't those two special when they're like this? They are so cute at that age. Aren't we though? An objective reading of my post will show that nowhere did I blame Chuck for my buying of the bottle. The BBW¹ was purchased with the expectation that it would not be very good, for the purpose of using it for a VBT and because I plan to review it in my own blog, mostly as a "heads up" to fellow Oregonians that it's not worth the $30 asked for it. The proposal to send it to Chuck was just another expression of my sense of humor (admittedly sometimes a bit too sardonic), as in, "Wow, since you're so enthusiastic about this outfit, here, have some of their product." I would never, in fact, send it to him because, for one thing, I'm way too cheap to pay for the shipping. I never expected that he'd see the post either. As long as we're doing "it's not my fault," it's not mine that he gave into temptation and clicked on "show post". After all, there are a couple of people on my ignore list and I haven't seen any of their posts for the better part of a year. 1. Where have I seen that acronym before....oh yeah, right... 2. You still haven't realized that? Really?

Whiskey Blue
First, Happy 4-20 New to this Forum, but experienced drinker. I picked up a bottle of BBW from my local SF Bay Area merchant and was pleasantly surprised - to me, it drinks above the stated age. Also, in looking at its shelf competitors, I thought the price-point was spot on. How many of y'all have actually tasted this?
cowdery
We think we have because we've tasted LDI's whiskey in other bottles but most of us have not poured it from a BBW bottle.Which one do you have? Can you name some other bourbon you would compare it to? Whiskey Blue
I have been reading you for a while and now, to actually be "talking with you"....cool MISTER Cowdery...what led me to Big Bottom Whiskey at all was the mention in YOUR blog >> http://chuckcowdery.blogspot.com/2011/03/anti-potemkin-big-bottom-whiskey.html << The photo was compelling - just beautiful. And because they are making no secret of their role, AND you gave them such praise about being an independent bottler, I decided to give their products a try. Yes, many of us DO "listen" to you. As for what I think compares.....I guess I might say Bulleit, If you are really pressing me. I think the heat and finish on BBW is better on the pallet, the spice is apparent like Bulleit but not overly sweet. I mixed up some Manhattans and loved it. The spice came through nicely....but I also really liked it straight up. So I then tried the port finish....all I could say about that, besides really interesting, is "yummmmmmm". So I thank you MISTER Cowdery for pointing Big Bottom out to me. Look forward to the next one...
cowdery
The resemblance to Bulleit makes sense because it's the same mash bill and may even be the same yeast, as both LDI and Four Roses used to be part of Seagram's.
