Parkersback
The previous thread on this bottle was old and locked.I picked up a bottle of this while traveling last week, I couldn't resist as Hancock's is rare and expensive in NYC (about $50), and the Liquor Barn version is a hand selected barrel and on sale for 27.99.It was a hit with the guys I was traveling with. Me, too. Not sure what to say about it exactly, but tonight as I finish the night with a small pour I'll give some notes a shot:Color: Pretty light, though not excessively so. Like a golden honey. But I assumed because of the premium price that this was an old-ish bourbon (7-10 yrs?) but it doesn't really look that old. Nose: Again, it is light. Not much alcohol burn. Honey, vanilla. Apple, green apple, maybe even light lemon? Later on a bit of some kind of sugar cereal, like Apple Jacks or something.Taste: Pretty consistent with the nose. No surprises. Pleasant and easy. Finish: A nice warmth sticks around, but the taste dissipates pretty quickly. This is a pretty good bourbon, but not remarkable. I am very glad I bought it, but I am not sure I'd buy another, even at 27.99. I have no idea why anyone would buy this at $50.
squire
Pretty good and consistent is how I would describe Hancock. Sort of the Basil Hayden of the BT group. It's like, lets put out a handful of premiums and see what sells. At $22.50 yes, perhaps, but no more and even then I would wait for a sale. Barrel_Proof
The Liquor Barn version is ... on sale for 27.99.HPR has been "on sale" at LB for about 5 years now. Lately, you get a cute little velveteen LB bag with your bottle, too.

I can always find something at least as interesting for the money. Somebody at BT has a blind spot regarding this bottling, I think.
squire
I think they ought to close it out and reissue under a different label with a lower sales price.
