Lipman Updates.

One of the best sources of bourbon information on the web is a personal web site created and maintained by John and Linda Lipman. They've had the site for years and while it contains a tremendous amount of information, they hadn't been updating it until recently. They are in the process of doing so now and have completed several chapters. So if you've never looked at it before, or just not recently, you really should.

Certainly the truth for me. It will also cause you to become quite familiar with the mute button for your computer :grin:. It is an essential and instantly accessible tool on American whiskey distillers and history which also contains a few pics of gazebo frivolity and our own Chuck from back in the day. Glad to see the updates.

I know them. They were early participants here and the gazebo gatherings at the bourbon festival began when we decided we couldn't cram any more people into John and Linda's room at the Gen Nelson.

They were bourbon before bourbon was cool.

That was a great night that led to another great night in the gazebo the next day, Saturday. I remember we had a bit of food as well as bourbon. The high light was when a drunk Chris Sigman came back from the Gala and asked Julian to sign the bottle of Pappy 20 he bought at the Getz auction and then proceded to drop the bottle when Julian handed it back to him. everyone made a quick dive to save the bottle from disaster. Chris was then escorted back to his room by his wife.

John is working on updating his whole site and is getting ready to add his latest Tennessee trip next.

I've never met them but I do recall them saying some nasty things about SB on another site. Lots of love for them here from others, but no respect from me.

I've had very pleasant associations with John and Linda, even at post-original-'heydey', Gazebo events. They, and their website, are fine proponents of bourbon and its history.

Personally, it was on John's shoulder that I negotiated the GN parking lot to my room when I was the drunkest I've ever been latest at night! You just can't place a value on that sort of thing...

I also know John and Linda well. Good and knowledgable people. I've slept in their basement twice. Bourbon bottles floor to ceiling all four walls. I woke up and thought I was in bourbon heaven!:woohoo:

I had the pleasure of sharing drinks with John last July along with Sam Komlenic of Malt Advocate and Michter's Schaefferstown Master Distiller Dick Stoll and a few others. John is a wealth of knowledge and an awesome guy to talk to. I know the Michter's page is pretty much up-to-date since our gathering is on it. I can't wait to read the rest of the website!
