Maybe they did a label refresh that will be similar to the new WT 81 label.

I believe it was featured in a short video that was posted on here a few weeks back. Maybe I can dig it up

Hmm, a couple of label changes lately along the shelf it seems. Personally, I kinda prefer the previous label to this new one. Just a little, boring, I guess you could say, I don't like the monochromatic turkey, in particular.

There's a pic of barrelheads with the new logo floating around here somewhere.

Yeah it was pictured on the sneak peak of their commercial I posted. Makes it similar to the RR bottles IMO.

Brand management may have decided it was just time for a fresh look, but does the significant increase in size of "101" suggest a market problem/opportunity. Was WT101 with old label losing newbie customers who were focused on proof to brands like Charter 101 or any other that made the proof on the label unmistakable. Also interesting that Austin Nichols went away.

I like it! Always been a fan of parchment on bourbon bottles. Will there be a run of "dusty collectors" picking up the discontinued labels? I suspect there will be a slew of them at auction in the near future:rolleyes:

I like it. Sometimes at a bar, it's hard to tell if they have the 80 or 101 proof hidden back there. This 101 is way easier to see.

I would like the new label better if they had kept the turkey in full color.

Sorry - no like. If they wanted the 101 bigger they could have removed the meaningless "Real Kentuck" script and increased the width of the band that held the proof. But they're moving things around and introducing new stuff, so we gotta give 'em their head I guess...

My main reaction is that I'm glad they're finally doing something. It has been exactly two years since Campari bought the distillery and brand from Pernod Ricard and not much has happened. They just put a new distillery on line, which is not nothing, but they haven't given much indication where they're going with marketing. I've had a little contact with their PR agency recently and they're gearing up for a big coming out party (my term, not theirs) in about a month. I hope to be getting a sample of the 81 proof soon too. My guess is we will see a lot of activity from them this summer.

True, but I have a feeling that the new WT 81 will look almost exactley as this new 101 so the same problem will be there.

Here's the pic I was referring to. Only posting a link as the original is pretty large and I don't want to blow up anyone's browser.

The new label style for each bottle is represented.

Is that your phone next to the Rare Breed barrel?

If it was then how did he take the picture?

That is the remote to control the non-functioning multimedia presentation.

The one that we didn't get to see.

They are still working out the kinks, apparently.

same here. overall, i like the new label better. i think the reasoning behind the toned down turkey is the eyes naturally tend to focus now on the "wild turkey" and "101". as long as they aren't changing what goes inside the bottle, i think it is cool. of course, if they went back to offering 8yo, 12 yo and 10 yo at 101 proof...
