What is the WORST whiskey blend you've ever had?

I'm kind of bored and I know this is kind of productive but I figured it would be entertaining nonetheless. I never drink blends unless I'm in a bar and it's the only thing they have to mix with that's not 12$.

What is the worst blend you've ever tried- American or Canadian?

Ill go first- top 3 are:

1. Canadian LTD

2. Philadelphia

3. Barton

Well put, but the blends i mentioned were far from forgettable (actually they were downright horrendous- i try to forget them). I'm sure I'm one of the only guys on here who tries blends on any sort of basis (probably 2 or 3 times a year- when the cheapest thing other than a blend is over 10$)

All of their good stuff was being sent overseas. Why they decided to sell Americans that blended swill....I have no idea. I'm just glad that they have corrected that problem.:grin:

I haven't dabbled in the blended category, so my experience with a bad blended begins and ends with Crown Royal. Stuff is AWFUL!

Can't say I've ever tried a blended American whiskey. Doesn't sound like I should start.

ten high blended. Terrible ain't the word. I tried it on accident because ten high was my everyday bourbon and the switched it to a blend in New York but if you do not look close you will not know. I knew upon first taste something was wrong. Tastes like cardboard. There was a blened ezra brooks in the mid 90's that was actually pretty good.

I have a bottle of Barton QT Premium. Can't imagine what the "Premium" refers to. It will never be used past the one drink that has come out of it.

I thought light whiskey was by definition a blend of whiskey and neutral grain spirits. I may be wrong but here is the description from the Barton website:

"Barton's QT Premium Whiskey The leader in the growing light whiskey category. Taste stands up on the rocks or mixed. A light-tasting, smooth blended whiskey made to satisfy today's drinking preferences."

You are. Light whiskey is a special type, distinct from a blend containing neutral spirits. That the end result is difficult to distinguish from a blend is why "the growing light whiskey category" was a case of a marketeer hoping that saying it would make it so.

I actually never thought there was any wrong with crown royal (but nothing that good either). Now, 7 crown- that just tastes like whiskey flavored vodka.

That stuff wasn't even being made at the real distillery.

As for whiskey blends, I'm afraid I simply avoid them so I can't say what is the worst for me.

Boy, will I catch flak on this one. I thought Old Portrero single malt was the worst whiskey I'd ever experience, the I tried Wasmunds. I'd take Early Times over either of them - In fact I'm not sure I wouldn't pick old dish water over Wasmunds. However I know there are people on the board that love each of them.

The worst blended whiskey I ever had was Four Roses when Seagram made it. God awful stuff. I know why it's taking Four Roses so long to shake that off. But I also agree with Stu. That Old Potrero was :horseshit:
