Enoch
I have a question about shipping whiskey to someone else. I asked a friend of mine who works at UPS and he said that they would not insure whiskey because it is illegal for someone without a license to ship it to someone else, especially across state lines. They would ship it but if it was broken they would decline to reimburse you the costs once they knew what it was. The USPS will not ship anything above 15 percent ABV. My question is what has been your experience. Has anyone had any damaged and been reimbursed. My question revolves around trying to help someone acquire an expensive bottle and shipping it to them. Thanks for your help in advance. callmeox
If you are shipping an item that is not permitted by their policy, I don't think that insurance is an option. Of you must ship, overpack it. I have had success shipping fragile items with a smaller box inside of larger box filled with foam peanuts to create an impact barrier.
