flew through narita and picked up a 700ml bottle. would have bought more but my country of destination limits you to 1L of liquor:smiley_acbt:

3800 yen. i was going by the OLD fx rate and calculated it out to about $40. well, i was reminded by the bill that the dollar has dropped. more like $50.

was planning on sticking it in my suitcase for the trip back home (along with a couple of more bottles) but my brother-in-law heard about it and insisted we open it up (he's never had bourbon before).

i was suffering from jet lag (transpacific flight) so i limited myself to ONE big wine glass. it may not be as good as the one bottle of split label 12 yo i've had but it's still GOOD. very good. brother in law noticed the same. his first instinct was that it was cheap booze when he heard how much i paid for it. he changed his tune after 2 sips. he had THREE big wine glasses. i told him to be careful but he really liked it. he had to be carried to his car (his wife drove).:slappin:

man i wish they still sold this stuff in the usa. in houston's duty free store, they didn't have the 12 yo but they had 1liter bottles of the 8yo. I think it was selling for $18 bottle but can't remember. damn.:hot:

It was wildly available in German online stores as late as a year ago, but now it seems totally sold out here.
