dmarkle
So what are your horror stories of the worst prices you've seen someone charge for bourbons? Mistaken labels don't count. I'll start off. I saw a guy today trying to sell the current release Lot B for $89.99 a bottle! And I thought his $200 price for PVW 20 was bad!
fussybitch
I've seen someone trying to charge 400 for a VW23. I passed...
wadewood
The liquor stores attached to Costco in Houston (I believe operated by Western Beverage) have the baby Saz in the glass display case with all their high end stuff. It's priced about $65. I'm pretty sure they made a mistake and think it is the Saz 18. I tried telling them it should cost about $26 to $30, but they have no intelligence. The sad part is I bet they sell it at $65.
p_elliott
In 2009 one of the internet liquor sales sites had GTS for over $800 a few days later they lowered it to $289.

White Dog
Found a large stash of Old Fitz BIB 200ml 1993 DSP-16. Bought 15 at $2.99 a piece, as that's all the cash I had. Went back in a week to buy the rest, and the guy had raised the price to $3.99.:hot: :hot: A small increase, but it really pissed me off because it was a clear case of gouging. We started to argue, and he claimed the wholesaler raised the price! I told him that those were bought over a decade ago, so he then claimed he was trying to maintain the current pricing. I still bought the rest, but I was pretty steamed. As he was ringing me up I said, "You know you have something, you just don't know exactly what." He replied with a blank stare.I will say this, it's still damn fine Bourbon at $3.99.

jcg9779
Pappy 23 regularly sells for over $300 in Atlanta - one place always has it for $350.
MrAtomic
A nearby store has had a bottle of Wild Turkey Russell's Reserve 10 for sale at about $90 for at least five or six years. The first time I saw it, I offered $35-40 for the bottle and the manager said, "if you want to spend $35 on a bottle of Wild Turkey, you can buy this one." She then handed me a bottle of standard WT 101.

Neat
houston's favorite liquor store proprietor (wade, randy and others have posted about him) prices his pvw's and btac from 50% - 100% above msrp the day he gets them. they still sit on his shelf. he didn't get any 15yo last year or this spring. he's made a mint over the years and i don't think he gives a damn anymore. jcg9779
Yeah, as I've posted before, Georgia Crown is the distributor for Pappy and Old Rip here in Georgia, and they screw us on anything from that line. ORVW 10/90 is $45 and ORVW 10/107 is $50.
mrviognier
Are you talking what Crown sells it to the retailer for, or what the retailer charges the public?
