I recently came across a store that had a bunch of OFBB 2003 and 2004. I have only tasted the 2009 and 2010 up until now so I got a bottle of each. My question is which is your favorite OFBB year(s).

I've only had a few of the years, but my favorite is hands down the 2007. I just haven't had it in a while- its impossible to find.

My favorites would be 2002 first followed by 2007...the 2006 for me is very hit and miss...more so then any other bourbon I've tasted. Some nights I appreciate it almost to the point of liking it and other nights it's terrible. I thought the 05 and 08 were forgettable as there wasn't anything special about them and I haven't tried the 03 or 04 so I can't comment on those. ;)

Funny how everyone loves the 2007.

I wonder who has one and does not like it yet can't seem to get rid of it......

Most definitely the 2007. I've only had the 2007 and 2010. I've seen the 2004 on the shelves several places, but never pulled the trigger. The 2007 is a must buy if you see it.

I've only had the 2009 and hated it. It's easily among the worst whiskies I've tasted so far, and has kept me from trying any of the other OFBB vintages. I'll keep an eye out for the 2007, though, after reading the love-in for it here.

I've bunkered several of the Spring 2003 (green ribbon.)

I think the 2008 is better than the 2007 but I'm in the minority. The 2003 has gotten good reviews too, although I've never tasted one.

08 is definitely very very good (09's good too) but 07 is the best. 2010 definitely wasnt my favorite.

Just stay away from the '09. I tried to drink some tonight and ended up disposing of it. That damn baby diaper comment by Chuck ruined it for me.

I was lucky enough to find somebody to take the '09 off my hands. He didn't find it quite as offensive as I did. Lucky him, I suppose.

The '09 was my least favorite to date (spicy taste that is way out of balance). I liked the '05, '07 and '08. I'll go out by myself and take the '05. It reminds me greatly of late 80s / early 90s OF. (I haven't tried '02 or '04.)

That is one of two, the other being the Fall distilled 2003 bottled, I have't tasted yet so you very well may be onto something here! I honestly think a lot of people who give their opinion haven't truly tasted them all, which I firmly believe you should disclose if you're giving your opinion. I only have 1 bottle of the 2005 and that is in my complete set so I can't taste it until I find another; however I did just recently score an extra Fall 2003 so I'll be trying that one within a couple months.

  • 3 weeks later...

My bottle of 2010 has been open for a month now, so I decided to revisit it yesterday as I've heard that improves considerably after being open for a while. I enjoyed the pour, but think that it would have been much better had this bottle been a wheated mashbill. It has a wonderful spice muffin flavor that is spoiled by the rye character. It's like putting pepper on a spice muffin - it's just not right! A sweeter wheated mashbill would have worked wonders for this one.
