"There's a certain amount of rich buttery flavors that you'll associate with bourbon," says Tim Adams with MacArthur Beverages in D.C. "But it also has the rye-like intensity that comes from the wheat."

Huh?

Story on local news radio site. Click on links to find another. Not too happy with the way this was written. Obvious errors, and now all the ebay scammers will be out looking for the stuff.

I'm sure far more of the ebay scammers read the ESPN Father's Day Article than this one on the local news radio site. As a matter of fact, I would guess it was that ESPN article that prompted this (poorly researched and written) one.

My thoughts exactly! It is very similar to the ESPN article a few weeks ago. Looks like another example of lazy journalism.

That should be Van Winkle's new tagline: "The rye-like intensity that only wheat can provide!"

WTOP is more than just a "local" station...

Sadly, WTOP is a major provider of "feature" news to other outlets around the country... this story will likely show up in a dozen or two other radio/print outlets - without any fact checking or updates.

I can't wait to try that 13 year old Pappy! It's the only one I've not tried. Thank GOD she discovered that this lost treasure exists...

I have read a lot of spirits articles, but this one by far is the worst/lease accurate that I have ever seen.

There's a link to the earlier story in this story. I'm just upset because it's hard enough finding any of the VW's in VA without a bunch of posers buying it thinking they'll get rich selling it on ebay.

I wonder for how many people, a PVW purchase is in their list of "first 5 non Beam or JD whiskey purchases. It seems to me as if everyone is starting at the top and working their way down the shelves with their bourbon journeys these days. I'm not trying to pass judgement, just making an observation.

Personally, I wish they would go ahead and discontinue the label, go on to whatever is next, and we can all go on with our lives.

All of this publicity seems odd since we're at the end. I"m ready for the next chapter.

I'd rather see the posers spend their money on good bourbon rather than on fancy vodka bottles. More people buying bourbon is more people buying bourbon, which is good regardless of why they're buying it.

Chuck, you are right. Increased demand means more offerings down the road for all of us. The more money the bourbon producers can make today, the more likely they will reinvest in their own futures in ways such as increased rye distillation and larger storage capacity.

I couldn't agree more Chuck! Slightly off-topic for this thread, but also relevent.... This is also why I support products like Red Stag and the honey liquors.

Honey lickers risk getting bee stings on their tongues. I'm just sayin'.

Really good point. Hopefully everyone going crazy for PVW makes someone like HH that much more interested in going after the mid-high end wheated bourbon market and bring us some more PHC10 quality bourbon.
