A Tough-to-Find Sighting:

I just spotted a stash of I.W. Harper Gold Medal 15 yo from the United Bourbon Heritage Collection at $29.99 pre tax. As is often the case, it's in an otherwise nondescript neighborhood bottle shop. (Yeah, Bobby, I can't stay away from these hole-in-a-wall shops, either--you never know what you'll find on the shelves!) If anyone would like to add this increasingly rare bottling to the bunker, let me know!

OFBB found in Bachus Wine and Spirits in Midway, KY. They have about a case @ 33.95. I picked up a backup bottle to last until the '03 comes out.

I'd be happy to throw a little business their way, if only the great state of Kentucky didn't forbid shipments out of state.

Not only would I add another bottle of OFBB to the floor of my closet (now that I've tasted it and know how marvelous it is), I'd also take the opportunity to try Very Old Barton BIB and Ancient Ancient Age 10 year old for the first time.

Strictly local for KC folks, but this week Gomer's in Kansas has Knob Creek on sale 750ml for $16.97, Gomer's in Missouri has Wild Turkey 101 in the 1.75 for $27.99. KC Costco in Missouri always has Rare Breed 750ml for $26.

KC area shoppers, Gomer's now runs their sale prices at the KC Star website, look in the 'local shopper/this week's sales' section on the right side of the page, under 'liquor stores'. Royal Liquor lists their weekly specials here. Good buys in there now and then.
