Lost cap

LOL!! Somehow, perhaps due to over indulging I lost the cap to my bottle of VOB BIB last night. The question I have is does bourbon go bad if it is left uncapped? It really is no big deal I only have a quarter bottle left and it is cheap. I just wondered.

Well eventually, and quicker than you might assume, the contents will evaporate if left uncapped. Probably best to apply a makeshift cap of some sort.

I used Aluminum foil and a rubber band in a similar cirumstance.

Saran wrap and/or a wine cork (of course I, too, have an ample supply of empties...) Yes, the whiskey will oxidize if left unsealed.

Corks tend to dry out, so might not do the work. Screwcap is the best, but the quality of screwcaps do vary- I like the standard japanses ones like. I got my Hakushu and Yamazaki bottle, I have seen similar on some old style bourbon bottles

They work great as containers for the bourbon if you are going somewhere they may object to a flask, like a football game. Or so I read somewhere.

Start keeping caps and corks. I have a small collection of them, as they come in handy when 1 out of 4 caps break (I tend to over tighten to reduce the chance of evaporation). Almost all screw caps are the same. And most corks are the same size.

Quarter of a bottle is a good snort I say. Drink it and throw the bottle out. Problem solved.
