I searched and couldn't find any info on it, so I thought I would ask people's opinions. Looking to get a bottle for a friend and came across the Kris Comstock Series: Rock Hill Farms 100 Proof Bourbon. It looks to be a 3 bottle limited release for $50 and this is the first bottle to be released. I've not had the Rock Hill Farms before and was wondering if anyone knew if this was different than the regular release of the RHF. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Here is the marketing message from SV on this bottling:

"This bourbon is different than many I've tried here at Buffalo Trace. It has a creamier mouth feel than most of our bourbon - a buttery texture. The taste makes me think of white vanilla frosting. It very delicate. Opposed to big earthy whiskies that I sometimes like. This has clean crisp finish. It doesn't linger. 100 proof, but it doesn't overpower me. I like it."

Based on the "it doesn't linger" comment I'm not sure what they're doing...I tend to look for bourbons that have some lingering flavors and finish. :skep:

I can see giving a master distiller a special "series", but a brand manager? Is this just something for Shoppers Vineyard?

Kris isn't known for his descriptions. This whiskey is very delicate and complex. He tends to like bigger flavored whiskies, which this is not. It doesn't have the long finish compared to those whiskies, but has a long finish for how delicate it is. However, this whiskey developes in the glass and every sip will offer a new flavor. I've been sampling it and it's constantly evolving.
