I will be taking a trip up 95 from S. Florida to Chapel Hill to drop my son off at UNC. Does anyone have any suggestions for where I might stop off and find some rittenhouse or PVW Family Rye. Can't get either of those down here. Or Maybe there is just a particular store I shouldn't miss along the way.

Thanks

You won't find any PVW along the I-95 corridor in SC. You may find some Ritt 80 at one of the Micky Finn's in Florence, SC. I've never seen Ritt BIB in NC or SC. You will not find PVW in NC either. Sorry for the bad news.

Micky Finn's should have ORVW 10 107 & 90. They'll probably have the best bourbon selection as well. Have a safe trip.

I picked up a bottle of PVW 15 (and left a few bottles of PVW20 on the shelf) at Mickey Finn's in Florence a couple months ago when I was driving back to Atlanta from NC, but I'm sure that's long gone now.

I went to both Micky Finns in Florence about 10 days ago and they were out of all van winkles. A number of stores in Columbia SC have been selling the Ritt 100 recently so I assume it is being carried in the state now. I used to be only able to get the 80. As far as dusties Florence seems pretty picked over. I went to every store (13) that day and didn't find anything. DOn't know much about GA stores.

^ About the only dusty left in Florence is EW 1783 10 yr.

That's all I found there too....and some old decanters, but I'm not a decanter guy so I left them there. The owner wanted $80 for his ER101 Lawrenceburg eagle decanter....a little more than I was willing to pay!

You didn't bite on the Elvis McCormick decanter next to it? :slappin:

I would try The Crunkleton bar in chapel hill. I haven't been there yet but it has an impressive bourbon list and Imbibe magazine just listed it as one of the top 5 bourbon bars in the nation. A friend of mine who taught at UNC (now at USC) said it was where he learned to appreciate bourbon. I attached a picture from their FB page with a well known guest.
