DeanSheen
That would be great if they can hit that target. It sucks leaving there without any and having to wait.

(August 24, 2011) – Four Roses Distillery is adding to its collection of limited edition small batch bourbon expressions this September which mingles four recipes – aged between 11 and 13 years - of the distillery’s 10 unique recipes. The release of the Four Roses 2011 Limited Edition Small Batch Bourbon will coincide with September’s Kentucky Bourbon Heritage Month and will be officially introduced at the 2011 Kentucky Bourbon Festival. It will include four recipes hand-selected by Master Distiller Jim Rutledge. The bourbon utilizes Four Roses’ recipes coded OBSK and OESQ, both aged 13 years, as well as recipes OESV aged 12 years and OESK aged 11 years. The 2011 Limited Edition Small Batch Bourbon presents aromas of honeysuckle, toasted oak, almond toffee, and spicy hints of nutmeg and cinnamon, with subtle fruit flavors of dried apricot, ripe plum, plus brown sugar, honey and dark chocolate covered cherries. “This year’s limited small batch release is a classically refined bourbon that really showcases our ability to utilize the distillery’s 10 distinct recipes,†said Four Roses Master Distiller Jim Rutledge. “The combination of spicy, fruity and floral flavors make this a rich, mellow offering perfect for any occasion.†The distillery will produce approximately 3,500 bottles of the barrel strength, non-chill filtered bourbon to markets where Four Roses is currently available in the U.S. Four Roses’ limited edition bourbon offerings have historically sold out quickly and been highly acclaimed by spirits critics. Last year’s 2010 Limited Edition Small Batch Bourbon was rated third by Paul Pacult amongst the top 140 Five-Star Rated Spirits of the world in his renowned liquor industry publication The Spirit Journal. ###
LikeItWasSodaPop
This is great news. As far as I read Oscar's chart, this is the first year where 4 separate *recipes* are used, no? (The standard Small Batch uses 4, of course.) Does anyone know how they put all this together? Do they vat all of it at once or in batches? I was at Cox Creek earlier this year but hadn't yet become the 4R obsessive I am now ... I could've asked them then. I think I'll try a little mad scientist vatting action myself with these 4, as I have all of these but the OESK; a nice excuse to run out to Binny's. These 4R individual recipe single barrel Binny's bottlings are taking over my cabinet! The OB recipes seem to get more love on the forum and seem to do better on their own. I get the sense that the OE recipes really shine when vatted.
OscarV
LikeItWasSodaPop, if that is your real name, I too have thought about vatting the different recipes to come up with a certain 4R label but one doesn't know the ages and the percentages. But still could be fun.Yes, this is the first year where four recipes are used in the LE of SmB but then again this is only the 2nd year. But, the 2008 and 2009 Mariage are the ancestral soul mates of the 2010 and 2011 LE SmB, so you could say it's four years and counting as of now. AaronWF
Anybody have a clue as to why this hasn't hit shelves in Chicago? Binny's is a big retailer for 4 Roses, but nobody I've spoken to over there seems to know anything about it.

jcg9779
I can't speak for Chicago but in Atlanta we got very little of it and came and went in a flash. I had to pry a sample from the firm that does their marketing to get a taste.

Tucker
I saw about six bottles of it on a shelf last night. At least I think it was the 2011...I doubt there is any of the 2010 LE SmB still around...
BigRich
Saw several bottles of the 2010 SmB LE just an hour ago, right next to a bunch of 2011 Single Barrel LE. Had to check twice to make sure they were 2010.

smokinjoe
That's because you boys don't live just down the street from smokinjoe and troyce. In all seriousness, I'm set now but my usual haunts in Cobb Co. and Atlanta were bone dry. I did see some 2011 Single Barrel and 2010 Small Batch though. Not only that, but Troyce has completely wiped out the cheap flavored vodka supply, too!
