chefnash51
Just got the email alert from SV. Looks like JD is coming out with a LE 100 proof. Couldn't find any info on it (neither could SV). I am a bit intrigued.. any one heard anything about this?
StraightNoChaser
Just saw this email as well. Is 10% more alcohol really worth double the price?

StraightNoChaser
I guess the important question is, which floors of the warehouse did these barrels come from? Seeing that's how JD decides what goes into which marque
Gillman
Another important question: single barrel or batch?Gary
Happyhour24x7
if it's anything like the Silver Select 100 proof that they do for export, I will be very happy. good stuff indeed.
ThomasH
If its double the price of the 80 proof, then its the same general price as a Silver Select at duty free!Thomas
cowdery
The only difference between this and standard issue Old No. 7 is the proof.
Gillman
Well, different from Silver Select at least.Gary
cowdery
Silver Select is Single Barrel. If it's Single Barrel, then it's Silver Select. If it's not, then it's a standard commemorative, which means it's Old No. 7 at a higher proof. The point is that Daniel's doesn't do any special selections for its commemorative or limited edition bottlings, except single barrels which are by their nature specially selected. A non-single barrel LE is run of the mill Old No. 7, just less diluted (which is not nothing).
autiger23
It's a 100 proof limited edition holiday bottling. Just saw everything on the JD site. Looks to be around $35-40 and since i only live 45 minutes from the distillery I should find plenty in the first TN county before I cross the AL lines...hopefully. Gillman
My point is that if it is not Single Barrel (I doubt it is), it is different from Silver Select: there are two JD's at 100 proof to compare the merits of. Currently, 94 proof Single Barrel can't be compared to anything the same in proof because there isn't a 94 proof LE. There is a 90 proof one, but not 94. We're not talking huge differences, but that is what I meant.Gary
fivedime
In a recent email from JD they state this will go on sale starting December 3 at the distillery. No word on whether it will filter into stores after (or before), but I would be surprised if it didn't.

fivedime
Well, there ya have it!I was up in Fayetteville yesterday and didn't see any, but then again I wasn't looking for it either (I *was* looking for Bulleit Rye, which I did not find, but that's another story). Tunnel vision, driven by panic at not being able to replenish my rye stock, may have played a part.
