I'm looking to buy either the Parker's Heritage Collection 27yr or the Pappy Van Winkle 23yr.

Which would you spend your $200 on and why?

Thanks!

IMHO, neither are worth $200. I would much rather have 3 bottles of Pappy 15 or 2 bottles of 1st Parkers and even this year's Parkers.

I would agree with Wade here...except I would go with a couple Pappy 15's and a PHC 2010 wheater. ;)

I agree with the comments made here so far, but if I had to choose I'd probably go for the Parkers as (as far as I know) it's a limited once-only release. Whilst Pappy 23 is rare, it's usually released in small allocations every year so I imagine you'd be able to find it in years to come.

I agree as well. Pappy 15 and 20 are better than 23. The first edition Parker's and the wheater are better than the 27 (I haven't had this year's yet).

Make that a 3-peat, but I'd add this year's Parker's into the mix. I think the cognac finish is excellent.

I did a side by side of those two last year at a bar in NYC. I preferred the Parkers but your milage may vary.

I was buying by the drink and it helped me decide not to buy either bottle.

To answer the original question, If they were both exactly $200, then probably the Pappy 23, but if like everywhere I saw them it was more like $170 vs $250, then the Parker's. I think the Parker's gets very little of the love it is deserved and would also reckon most people haven't even opened a bottle to really get to know it.

Now if we're going to get into a how would you spend $200 I'd have all kinds of different answers, but that wasn't what was asked.
