I am going to shut the distillery down for 2 days for thanksgiving somehow and I am going to break into some ND Old Taylor I have been saving. What will you all be drinking special for turkey day?

The in-laws are coming over and we're doing it at our house with me doing most of the cooking. So to answer your question...a lot.

Wild Turkey! What else is there to choose on Turkey day? Every year I open up a new bottle and this year it's looking like a WT 8/101 from 1988 will be the target. I have some WTAS, WT 8/101 1978-1982, and some WTRB 1997 open and all those will get hit at one time or another throughout the day!

This year I am going to open a bottle of Jeffersons Presidential Select 18yo. I try to bring something special and somewhat historical to share with my old man.

This past weekend I tried to find a bourbon that would work well with pumpkin pie. I didn't have pumpkin pie on hand but did have a leftover Cisco Pumple Drumpkin beer loaded with pumpkin flavor.

I'm not sure if I want something spicy or something sweet. The ones I did like with the pumpkin flavors were OGD 114 (spciy) , Jefferson's 17 (sweet) and WLW 2010 (rich).

Anyone have any recs?

This is a great idea, I have not even thought of. I have never tried Wild Turkey, any guidance on what to try?

Best regards, tony

WT 101 same as every year but I'm going to hold out till the Packers VS Lions game comes on. Then take a nap after the game.

Wild Turkey 101 or Wild Turkey Rare Breed will get you started.

I have two newly purchased bottles of Rare Breed ready to go. One bottle for our annual Thanksgiving Eve Poker Game. And, one bottle for the Big Day.

I'm out of Wild Turkey 101 (and on strict orders to not buy anything until after Christmas) so I'll hit the bottle of WT Kentucky Spirit I've been savoring.

Champagne pre-dinner, pinot noir with the bird, Bailey's with coffee after, and then in lieu of cognac, Pappy 20.

Following a nap, freestyle through the leftovers later in the evening, followed by more Pappy. Or maybe the new bottle of Knob Creek 120 . . . .

I always go with the current G T Stagg for Thanksgiving.

What better way to celebrate the bountiful harvest than with the bountiful Stagg.

But, I couldn't wait until Thanksgiving this year and I opened it Saturday and I am sipping some now.

I will be overworked Tues, Wed and Fri so I will not have the time or energy for bourbon, hence my early Stagg raid.

It's hard to beat that ND Old Taylor, that stuff is crazy good.

Since it is Thanksgiving and a holiday, I'm going to open a bottle of WT American Spirit for post turkey sipping. Fortunately, only my father-in-law and I will probably be taking part, since my parents and aunts and uncles are teetotalers. More for me!

I'll probably be drinking red wine. Got a bottle of Sterling Three Palms Merlot I plan on opening. After that I may open a bottle of PVW 15 if I can bring myself to do it. The bottles just look so nice unopened!

Picked up a bottle of WSR to share with the in-laws. Wanted something good, but not so good that I'd feel bad leaving it behind if it's not finished

CGL WT12 and Split Label WT12. Hopefully I'll have an early morning tasting.

Atta boy Will!

As for me, I haven't made up my mind yet. We're having Thanksgiving dinner at my sister and brother in-laws. There'll be lot's of family present, but no one else that enjoys bourbon. I'll probably wait till I get home to have a pour or two. I have an 07 WLW, and a SW Weller SR open, but I may end up opening a Binny's Weller 12. One of the guys brought some to bowling last Wednesday, and it sure tasted good. It's been a long time since I've had one open. Cheers! Joe

WT Kentucky Spirit on Thanksgiving Day, 101 on the Friday (among others), & WT Tradition on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

Brought home some MBR experimental black dog bourbon on a visit to my I laws a couple of weeks ago. Tried it at the tasting and really enjoyed. Going to open up and share with my bro and Dad. Will probably top it off with either the aged Kentucky shine from MBR or thinking about going to Party Source tomorrow and picking up something new.

Start off with some Paul Bara Rose Champagne, followed by various wines for cock-tailing with the in-laws. California Pinot Noirs from Ghostwriter, Washington state reds from Buty, and some Austrian Gruner from Schloss Gobelsburg.

For the meal, I'll have various German Riesling from Selbach and Donnhoff, who are two of my favorites.

When I get back home and put all the kids to bed, I'll have some gold foil WT 12yr.
