Thought I should stick to WT on turkey day, but the only bottle I have in the house is an autographed bottle of 101 by Jimmy Russell...so obviously that bottle was not going to make the trip to the parents house, let alone ever get opened.

So I settled on a bottle of VW 12yr Lot B. Nothing too good for my non-appreciative family members, but still nice enough for me to enjoy throughout the day. It went surprising well with a slice of pumpkin pie.

The adults had their choice of Turkey 101, 81, and Kentucky Spirit along with a belt busting meal.

Now that everyone is gone and it's just me and the misses I am having a pour of Stagg 2011 along with a good cigar. It's amazing how quiet the house is after the grandchildren go home.

Went with a pour of VOBbib for the afternoon while deep frying the bird and after dinner had a pour of GTS

Cracked open a bottle of Rare Breed 01-91. Really glad I found two bottles of this recently, because it tastes better than the WT101/8 I have.

That WTRB 01-91 tastes a lot like WT12yo to me.

It was the first release and I'll bet it has more 12yo bourbon in it than the later releases.

It's real good.

Is the 01-91 you guys are mentioning a date/production code, as in you're still finding bottles from 1991 on shelves somewhere, or is it just a specific batch number for current release RB?

That's good since I've never been able to find a 12yo in my travels.

Date code. This was some seriously dusty rare breed in a ghetto liquor store.

It is my understanding that up until 03, the two digits after 01- indicate the year bottled.

Anything bottled 03 or later has the 03 code. Dawn is the go-to person on WTRB. I can't find her original thread, but here's a sequel to it: http://www.straightbourbon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6443
