So I think I'm responsible for some Van Winkle price gouging.

No Josh. I'm saying that the retailer is a moron. You SHOULD walk away. But will you want to go back? In addition, will Johnny X, who couldn't find it anywhere else and has now purchased it there want to go back anytime soon? Sure, maybe next year when the same thing happens, but until then? I see a high dollar sale but not a net gain on the retailer's part. It frustrates me that people think this way. but hey, this is America.

By the way, you really bubbled over in posts last night. :D Holding them all in? Glad to see you back around. :toast:

I know I contributed to it a little as well. Paid $130 for the 20 yr., which seems to be 10-30 over others. Wanted to get a bottle or two for the very modest (but growing) bunker and be done with it.

Did you say, "done with it"? No, clearly you don't understand the term 'bunker.'

I meant I wanted to be done with the Pappy-bunker chase.

I was just being silly. In my limited experience with my modest bunker, there seems to be no 'last bottle.'

...I do not blame him for commanding top dollar. It's so rare, the quantity is so small, and his "market" for it is so miniscule, I don't think it will hurt his everyday foot traffic one bit.

Recently, a friend in Michigan asked me if it was fair to pay 90 USD for a bottle of PVW15. The retailer went so far as to show him the going EBAY price. My response was simple. If I was willing to buy it off of EBAY, I would be willing to pay the 90 bucks. Under no condition though, would I ever give him my "normal" business.

I found a 2011 GTS and WLW this week both were $100 over the state price. I called the store owner a greedy bastard and at that price I wasn't interested in doing business with him.

Here on the west slope I found a suppler of essentials that has multiple bottles (cases) of the 2011 BTAC on sale for $60....and I'm still recouping from the move :smiley_acbt:

Nice! Is the apartment next door available?

I don't think that it would be very nice living that close to a barn.

If I owned a liquor store, I'd raise the price on the PVW and then bang the help.:slappin: :slappin: :slappin:

If I buy Binny's Brett and Joe are gone. That's bad news, I know.

BUT!!!

I will, however, start a new concept...."The Binny's Girls". After you see them, you'll be more than happy to pay a fee just for the priviledge of entering the store. Think Tilted Kilt for the Scotch section. Daisy Duke in the Bourbon section. Salma Hayek in Tequila...I Dream of Genie in the Magic Cart....You get the picture ....You'll pay, oh yes, you'll pay.......:D

Can I at least stick around and charge cover at the door?

Joe, I may have been a little hasty in my zeal to reduce overhead. I apologize. I believe that you would have definite value as "Binny's Girls New Talent Co-ordinator". You would oversee identification, evaluation, and work with me in final hiring decisions of all potential Binny's Girls. I can't guarantee the pay to be real good, but the fringes are top-notch. Whaddaya say? :D
