IMO the Hirsch 16yr GF isn't a $115 bourbon...I would much rather have a PHC 2010, WLW, GTS, or even a Pappy 20 over it but that's just me. It's worth trying though if you haven't had it as some people really enjoy it. I'm not a fan of the EWSB's so I don't buy those even when I find them.

Agreed, but only as an "investment". As Sku points out, it is seen at much higher prices. I'm not sure the whiskey inside is worth it, though.

$115, agreed at least for an investment. I have never tried it so would have bought that in a heartbeat even with my pappy, wlw, phc bunker.

I have tried it and for me it isn't worth $115. It might be worth that to you just to satisfy yourself that it is or isn't something special for your palate. You typically would have to spend three times that to satisfy your curiosity.

I think it is definitely worth it if you would be willing to pay the same for PVW20. I just cracked open a bottle of AHH16 and PVW20 (2011). Personally, I liked the AHH16 better.

I bought a few bottles a couple years ago for $100/btl. I am glad I didn't pay a nickel more than that. AHH is about bragging rights. IMO (and several others have stated) there are several other bourbons that I'd pay that kind of money for ahead of AHH. That said, it is a valuable bourbon, and you could likely trade it for something else down the line.

It was good buy years ago at fifty when I picked two up. Drinking the one was nice, but I've liked many others better.

Now, like others have mentioned, it's just nice to say that I have one in possession. Kind of like part of some elite club or something.........

Is A.H. Gold Foil worth $115 in a vacuum? I would say no. Also, I don't like to flip for cash, but that's just a personal thing.

That said, I would buy it, as it is a good price in the market, and drink it. Years down the road, when the last remaining bottles are fetching over $5000 a bottle, won't it be nice to say, "Yes, I did get a chance to drink REAL Pennsylvania Michter's."

At least you'll be able to speak from experience on this most historic of distilleries. I believe that is worth it.

Gold foil Hirsch is a perfect buy for a small group to go together on, or to share around with enthusiasts at a special occasion. Myself, I think it's okay - but for me there's something off in the foil bottlings.

Like tasting white dog, a 20+ year old bourbon, or a distillation from vinegar infected mash, I think it's one of those benchmarks that every enthusiast should try for the taste memory - once.
