I searched for any threads about this but did not find one.

I visited my in-laws in FL over the new year and my fantastic mother in-law came home from the store with a box containing 3 "special" Maker's bottles.

The "special" box was labled as being oops bottles or blemished or somthing along those lines. It had a little story about the ladies in Loretto slipping a bit or something

So basically the box contained one bottle with too little wax, one with too much and one with a uneven label.

A couple things came to my mind. #1, the picture of the bottles on the box looked exactly like those found in the box to a T (but obviously were not the same bottles). Basically like these "oops" bottles are done on purpose. #2, If you have been to the MM ditillery they have stacks and stacks of new perfect labels. So, how in the world would a blemished label find its way onto a bottle?

Just simple marketing?

p.s. I am a MM and M46 fan.
