sku
Whiskycast this week reported on this new bourbon which is marketed by Vision Wine & Spirits: http://stetson-spirits.com/home_english.phpAccording to the website, it's Kentucky bourbon "distilled from pot-stilled sour mash," an odd claim for a sourced bourbon. So...Woodford? BT? Corsair? Alltech? Who else has a pot still?
Ejmharris
Not sure but my guess would be Corsair. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Beer&Bourbon
It means nothing, but their logo is fairly reminiscent of the HH logo. As Chuck (and others here) frequently say, you can't trust their marketing to tell you the truth. I'd also refrain from trusting most news sources since they frequently mismanage the facts when it comes to bourbon.Any idea on proof/ approximate age? I clicked on the information link, but it was in German. The google translation made it look like a bunch of legal mumbo jumbo.

JohnHansell
I have a bottle and had a rushed taste of it the other night. My initial thought was "typical, straight-forward, relatively young bourbon" but not something exclusively from a pot still. I will give it another go tonight and pay more attention to it and let you know if my thoughts on it change.

sku
Drinkhacker reviewed this and has some additional information. It's four years old and uses a mashbill with wheat and rye. http://www.drinkhacker.com/2012/01/26/review-john-b-stetson-bourbon/
tmckenzie
If they are to be believed, and it is made in pots, then where? Only folks I can think of is corsair. I would like to try some.
mrviognier
These folks poured at this year's Vin Expo in Bordeaux, and I had a chance to sit down with some of the management, and to taste the product. They clearly told me that the distillate was sourced from HH. Their distribution plans were primarily focused on the European market (Germany being the big one), with hopes for U.S. distribution down the road. The product was pretty underwhelming. ncmussell
Maybe Europe didn't go over well because I saw this on a shelf locally today, albeit it first time I have seen it.
tmckenzie
I saw it this week as well. I did not pick it up either.

Gillman
The reported origin of HH distillate makes sense to me based on a recent tasting. It reminds me of the Heaven Hill-branded bourbons aged 4-6 years, although I guess you never really know for sure. I found it rather corny in odor and taste, with some good oak behind it, possibly therefore a mingling of younger and older bourbon. Not bad, but I won't revisit.Gary
camduncan
This is getting a fair bit of exposure from our nations biggest liquor chain-store retailer. It's always in store and is priced for our upper-mid shelf market at $55 a bottle:http://danmurphys.com.au/product/DM_725746/john-b-stetson-kentucky-straight-bourbon-whiskey
squire
Define the market, refine the packaging, get marketing on board, set up the distribution and we're ready to go! Hold on . . . there was something else . . . let me see here . . . oh, yeah, somebody order some whisky to put in the bottles.
